"Submit Book for Approval" Option

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.55.105.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Magic, Strangerville, Get Famous, Vampire, Get to Work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When clicking on the book in your inventory, these are the choices I am given https://puu.sh/F2jx9/ecec981b84.png
What happens when the bug occurs? The option is not available. I've tried remaking the book. As well as on a different PC via in-game
What do you expect to see? I write my book via pc, and click on the book in the inventory. I am told it is supposed to say "Submit Book for Approval" and I do not see that. This is for a client for the Freelancer Writer
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

  • It does not say "Submit Book for Approval" anywhere in the inventory.

  • @MsChloeP  How did you start the book?  Did you start it using the Freelance career option or did you use the write book options?  If I remember correctly, to get the option you are trying to find, you have to start the book under the Freelancer menu rather than the Write menu.  Once started though, if you have to stop writing for some reason, then you can still get to it through the Resume Book option the Write Book menu and you still get the option you are looking for.  It's been a while since I played a sim in the Freelancer Writer career but I seem to remember running into that too when I first tried it.

@MsChloeP  Ok.  I just went into my game and found my freelance writer.  So I had her take a gig and she had to write a Biography.  Did so and when I clicked on the finished book in her inventory, the option to submit for approval was there.  She submitted and it got rejected as it usually does on the first go round and then I used the freelancer option to edit the book.  Submitted and accepted the 2nd time and got paid.

So, the proper place to find the option is on the book in the sim's inventory.  You're doing everything right as far as I can tell.  So it's something else.

I did a quick search for other posts on the freelance writer career and found a number of them but none that I read were really the same issue as yours.  Most were about a bug that was keeping people from getting credit for what they had done.  One where there was a problem with not being able to resume writing though was being caused by to a mod called "no autonomous computer".  By chance, were you using that mod?  This could be another byproduct of that mod maybe.  I do suggest you read those posts.  I got to them by typing "freelance writer" in the search box up top.  Maybe you'll see something that strikes a chord and can help you.  Based on what you tried so far and what I've found I'm at the point where I don't know what else to suggest.

  • @MsChloeP What kind of mods/cc have you been using and at what point did you remove them ? Did you delete the localthumbcache file ?

@MsChloeP, do you happen to play with any Mods or Custom Content (CC) ?  🤔  If you do, please do the following:

    1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop

    2) Delete localthumbcache.package file in the game folder.

    3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list.  Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.

    4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty.  Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.

    5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly.  If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method.

The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place.  You should try these steps anytime you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems.  It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version.

If this still doesn't help your problem, or if you don't use any Mods/CC, then something else might be wrong, but we need to rule out any Mod/CC conflicts first.😉
    Please update us ! 😇
