Hi Wyrmelin
is this when you actively playing the house and see the maid or when you get the 'maid cleaned your house while you're away message ?
Any mods/cc ?
It's when I am actively playing the house, and watching what the maid does.
From all I observed, it looks like it depends on the order of actions the Maid will do, and if the Maid decides to vacuum a pile of trash/dust or not. Once, I moved piles of food (created by toddlers) from the ground floor to the first floor to see if it will trigger the maid to go upstairs. It worked that one time, and I do not know if it was because those were piles of food. Most days the piles of dust are just grabbed to be thrown into the garbage, and the first floor isn't vacuumed.

Thanks.
Could you please also provide the following information. I'll move this to the bug forum once you've confirmed it's happening on a game with no mods/cc
- Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.

Ok. I'm on PC. I made sure there wasn't any mod in my game. I cleared my cache, and repaired my game. It's been a long time I haven't activated my scripts but who knows...
I observed the maid's behavior in two different occasions. One was very chaotic, the other was the usual issues.
Usual issues observed:
- On the ground floor, the maid vacuumes puddles of water and piles of food. A lot of time is lost doing this.
- Eventually the maid goes upstairs, led there by the presence of a pile of dust. They get mad at the level of dirt, then instead of vacuuming the pile of dust, they grab it to throw it in the garbage. Then they leave because they've already spent too much time here.Unusual issues observed:
I got a rocket on my lot and chaos happened. First, unrelated to the rocket, a Dust Bunny on the first floor caused a fire. No one paid it any mind. Sims did not notice it, because everyone lives on the ground floor. The first floor is just a room with an extra bed, a library, and gym equipment. Sims almost never go there.
When the maid arrived, the fire had spread to the roofs. The maid, bless their heart, decided it was a good time to take some time off, and put on their swimming outfit to sit by the pool. At some point the mail delivery lady, let's call her Kate, arrived and entered the house... which never happens usually. Kate noticed how dirty the place was and took it upon herself to clean the house. She wasn't happy about what she saw on the first floor of course: the room was completely burnt by that time. But the fire was now in the roofs, so she didn't notice it either. Eventually, the maid decided to use the rocket to explore space, and Kate grabbed a book, put on her swimming outfit, and sat by the pool to read. This is when my game crashed, putting an end to all this mess. The maid on a normal day, vacuuming food on the ground floor.

After all this I decided to make my Sim clean the ground floor themself to spare some time to the maid. Eventually, with this new parameter, the maid did vacuum the first floor once, but it really seems like a flip of a coin chance of whether the maid will grab trash or vacuum it.
I did notice however that my Sim was much more efficient at cleaning, since my Sim grabs all the piles of trash before throwing them down the bin, while the maid tends to throw them down the bin one by one (more time lost on the job).
So, if my Sims are more efficient, and have to clean themself the majority of the house anyway in order to have the maid complete the job, I suppose it kinds of kill the point of hiring a maid. They're more like home helpers, I guess. I didn't want my Sims to have to clean, since they had twin toddlers on their hands. A good solution for them would have been to hire two different maids, I suppose.
