The Sims 4 Legacy Edition - Question

Since the announcement that EA is moving on from 32-bit operating systems, I'm wondering.  It's only a matter of time before they move on from non-Windows 10 64-bit operating systems too, since Microsoft will stop supporting them.  These monopolies seem to do things in tandem, and should we Windows 7 64-bit machine owners also download the free TS4 Legacy Edition just in case?  I don't want it installing, but don't want to miss out on having to pay for it when EA decides to follow-suit with Microsoft.  Oh yeah, Origin doesn't give the option just to download something and not install it.  Sigh

Anybody else wondering this?  Not being able to comment on EA threads is why I'm putting this one here.  I used to be a software engineer and I can smell this sh_t coming!  LOL  Never in the history of Microsoft have customers all been forced onto ONE operating system and this bites the big one.  I asked them if they were too cheap to keep a team of developers for at least the last 2 operating systems for users and they didn't answer.  Hahahaha

@KingRayVeteran  It's under Extra Content, when you click on Sims 4 in your game library.  If you do download it and then don't want it later, it's difficult to prevent the LE files from downloading again the next time you play TS4.  But they don't take up that much storage in the grand scheme of things, maybe 6 GB or so.

  • @KingRayVeteran  You can download the Legacy Edition and not run it.  Just tell Origin to run the 64-bit version: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose 64-bit from the dropdown menu.

I wouldn't worry too much about EA dropping support for Windows 7 though, at least not on existing games.  The Legacy Edition and the drop of 32-bit support were announced in March, and the update was originally scheduled for May or June before being pushed back to November.  Even if you want to be cynical about it, I'm sure EA would like to give Windows 7 users every opportunity to buy more packs.  So I seriously doubt the rug is going to get pulled out from under you with no warning.

As for Microsoft's policy... I'm not going to comment on that, because I want my Windows 10 install to work tomorrow.

@puzzlezaddict As many tech supports as I deal with on a regular basis, yeah, I'm cynical now. I don't trust these monopolies anymore. I haven't found the free TS4 Legacy Edition yet, but will do as you suggested and not worry about it until I have to.

@puzzlezaddict Storage is no problem, but I don't want to prevent LE files from downloading again, so I'll leave it alone. I still couldn't find Extra Content, but I'm probably moving too fast and need to slow down and look for that tab.
