Hey all,wondering if any of you have a problem with dog walks. I noticed that a short walk is not really short, but so long that my Sims moodlets go yellow and the day goes into night. Don't want to know how long is a long walk then 😂 and for some reason the dog never does anything on a walk (except obviously walk) no matter the time. It is a bit weird, no? No problems with cats. Except occasionally when Sims hug them they just go through their body 😂

@EeveeTinn While walking your dog, try unleashing it (as @diopter77 already suggested) and then ask the dog to go potty. After it has finished, re-leash the dog and then click on Go Home for your Sim. This should make your Sim & dog walk straight home. I just tried this with my Newcrest household. I waited about 1 minute (real-time) into their walk and after their first break or pause in the walk. The owner still got a good moodlet for taking the dog on the walk & the dog stopped asking to go on one. It took less than 3 minutes real-time from start to finish. I can't remember if this is always how it's worked in my game (I usually just use cats) or if this is something new.EDIT: Lol oops I now see you already replied that you tried this. I was typing this with one hand (my cat is sleeping on my right arm & I don't want to wake her up) so my typing is kind of slow for this post xD

@EeveeTinn The "short" walks have seemed really long in my game ever since I added the C&D pack last year. I think this varies by neighborhood though. In one of my Windenburg households the dog walks take forever! In a Newcrest household the dog walks are generally much shorter. I don't think the duration is set to a specific time that is consistent in all locations, but rather is based more on what events happen while they are walking. Which neighborhood are you using? There are mods to create quicker walks if you are interested in something like that.
My dogs will stop to go potty if their needs are low enough though. Have you tried walking your dog when it has a low bladder need? It might shorten the time duration.
The weird cat hug thing has been going on for a while now too (in my game at least), especially when my Sim returns home from travelling to a different lot.
EDIT: I'll try a quick test with my Newcrest household to see if anything changed with the last game patch.

@RandomBuzziness Funny thing is, after a long "short" walk, he comes home and then pees in front of the door or on the patio behind and even poops there 😂 he has learned how to potty but I guess potty for dogs in Sims means behind the house on the patio 😂 I am currently playing in Sulani. But I do think you're right that it is location based. Although, I do not like that then, just takes too long then. I am not using any mods and I am not too interested in them 😊 (rather, I wish the game can be updated to make it work time-wise).

@EeveeTinn No worries on the mod thing. There are many other players who feel the same way about mods as you do. Just thought I'd put it out there. They can add some interesting game-play or fix some annoying bugs but they do require lots of maintenance and upgrading after patch days (I just finished updating all of mine).
I've never owned a dog in Sulani before, just a cat in Ohan'ali Town. Usually I only add dogs to my larger households so I can send a Sim off with the dog for a walk and not have to worry about how to keep them busy for a while. For smaller or single-Sim households I almost always go with cats. You can try having your Sim jog with their dog, instead of walking, to see if that goes faster. I had a dog owner in Brindleton Bay & she always jogged with her dog whenever it was asking to go on a walk. It seems like those went pretty fast. If you let me know which lot you are playing I can try to test it. I think it's likely I would get the same results you are seeing in your game but I am willing to give it a try. I can even record the time difference from my current Newcrest lot to the Sulani lot. Let me know, ok? :D

@RandomBuzziness I am playing on Lani St. Taz, the biggest lot, 50x50! I will try and see how the jogging works. For now on the walks, my dog does not do anything even when he is whining to go out, but as soon as he is home he needs to pee or poop 😂

@RandomBuzziness jogging didn't do much either! They stop but just continue without doing anything outside. I tried making them go potty by a command when I am outside on the walk but then the option is gone. I guess this is how it is now 😂

@diopter77 When I am outside on the walk with a dog or a jog I cannot click on them to do their business. The command is gone outside of the house.

@diopter77 It worked now 😊 didn't do anything on a regular walk but did what you said, unleashed the dog and he did its business! Just wish they could do that without interrupting the walk😅
