Too Many Problems

Ever since the most recent patch all of my current issues with the game have become significantly worse. I've tried no mods. I've reset everything.... The game keeps crashing.

Whatever this new patch did, it made the game unstable. If I play the game for longer then a hour now it just crashes.

It also made sims randomly earn the Jealous trait and turn people into enemies. So if your sim sees their friend flirt with a sim they have absolutely no interest in.. they earn the jealous trait anyways and their friendship is basically ruined forever.

Sims get stuck very often now. They'll stand in a corner and do nothing forever until you cancel their current action.

Those three issues are new... but still... Every new sim sets themselves on fire. Are fires at a 99% probability or what? You can't give your sims a oven until they level up cooking now or they'll burn the whole house down. It's funny, but it also makes creating new households nearly impossible because they keep trying to kill themselves right away.

Also, the FPS issue in Build mode is the worst it's ever been. I have a steady 120 fps at all times until I enter build mode and it drops to 10. I'm betting there is something wrong with the core of the game making that issue impossible to fix but it keeps getting worse.

I think, if you don't understand the game and you jump in, everything works alright. If you have a plan though... or set a goal for yourself... the game works against you. Things don't actually work like their supposed to. It's making the game too frustrating to deal with anymore. I'm tired of spending hours in build mode only for the game to break the second I start actually playing it.

If the base of this game can't support the content y'all want to release then we really need to move on to the next one. Because we're no longer adding value with DLC, we are making the game worse. This next DLC sounds cool, having bigger lots with more people, but if the game is already struggling to do simple things... how's it going to handle what's coming? Either not well or very disappointingly. I don't know why I keep trying to play... I turn the game on to relax but I guess that's not possible anymore.

  • @DarkestPenguin I've had a few issues in my game since the most recent patch too. If you're not already familiar with it, I'd advise you to take a look at the list of reported bugs here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/READ-FIRST-Compiled-list-of-reported-Issues/m-p/3445209#M223825

I've reported quite a few bugs myself recently 😔 there's something about an autumn update for me unfortunately. Seems appropriate for Halloween 😱.

I don't know if you've used it before but basically if you see a bug that looks like it matches your issue you can go to page 1 on the relevant bug report and click Me Too. You can also add a reply and give your information. It should bring up a bug template for you to fill in. If it doesn't, you can copy another one from the thread and paste it then clear the answers and add your own.

With your crashing issue, I'm on console (ex PC player) and it looks like you are on PC if I'm right? Here's the technical issues section for PC if you haven't used it before, you may find advice there. It could help to add a post there just about your crashing issue and a PC player may be able to assist you in fact I see a few similar posts on there with some tips to help. You'll also find a great troubleshooting guide:

    Hope this helps, good luck!
