Forum Discussion
If you are a new member, you can't start a new thread. This was a recent change due to some massive spam bot attacks.
You have to be a full member.
Engage in some existing ones first to level up, then you can open your own.

I have been a member for three years (just got a badge for it) yet I still can't post anything, I just don't know how to - cause i'm stupid...
- crinrict9 years agoHero+
It doesn't matter how long you've been a member.
it's about the number of points you have and how many posts you have.
Can you also not post in existing threads ?
How do you, then, 'level up' to become a full member? By commenting on threads? I've posted in the threads a few times a while ago, but I'm still a novice and cannot make a new thread. I just had a bug I wanted to ask about!
I have posted before and I cannot post anymore! and i swear by my heart I did not do anything to get banned!
- crinrict9 years agoHero+
You can't post at all or just not make new threads ?
i had the same problem!! i had all these ideas for challenges and i couldnt figure out how to post them. xD
- Anonymous9 years ago
How do you become a Full Member then? I really want to know!!!!!!!

I shouldn't have to level up. I don't care how many bots caused issued. Lots of programs are available to prevent bots from taking over. EA has the ability to have some one write a program. I feel like I am being punished even though I have been a member of EA since I can't even remember when. I just know that I was playing Club Pogo for a long time before I got interested in Sims 4.
Forcing players/customers to use a point system to voice their opinions/critiquing their products is unprofessional. It is not our job to control the bots. I don't waste my time sitting on Forums to "point up". I come to check out what is going on in the game, other players' ideas or issues. I come to offer some ideas of my own but I am not allowed to post because they consider me a NEW member still! This system is wrong. There may be some people that enjoy clicking or commenting just to do it. I am not one of them. This system offends me as a gamer, as an adult and as a fan of Sims 4!
P.S.- I won't return to see any comments for a long time. I would if they sent out a email or a message saying that I got a response.

I know right and if anything it just makes problems worse. It leads people with general issues with their game that hasn't been brought up in any existing threads just floating forcing them to desperately try and fix the problem on their own instead of posting a thread where someone who already has an answer on the issue can give them advice. It's stupid. There could easily be put fix so there would be less spam, possibly having a timer that has people wait out a certain amount of time before posting again, having the system scan your post where if it finds an already existing post that asks the same question as yours, it sends you to it.There are many ways they could have gone about the issue.

You can always open a thread here if you need help with an issue. :D
- Anonymous8 years ago
Thats actually the stupidest thing ever.

The requirements for becoming a full member have been decreased now! ๐
And if you do not like it, you're free to post in the forums here whenever you like!
To my knowledge, they had serious problems with bots/spammers bloating the forum, and the moderators could not keep up, so they had to do this. Too bad though ๐คจ
- 6 years ago
I suppose they needed these measures since it's a forum for "adoring fans" of the game, so criticism will get flagged
- Anonymous7 years ago
That's ridiculous. I came here because I can't run the only EA game I've tried, so I have no experience to discuss here.
- Anonymous7 years ago
Okay, I just read the point schedule. Without people helping me out by liking my comments, I will have to post 1500 comments to amass the 50 points I will need to ask the question that I need to ask in order to run my first EA game. Right?
1500 comments about games I've never run. Because I can't run them.
Is there a cow I can click on 1500 times instead?

@annagulaev, sadly, as with everything in life, a few bad people abusing the system make normal actions ridiculously difficult! ๐ฌ It is the same reason why we need passwords, valid ID, passports, airport security checks, ID badges, security cameras, etc. in real life.๐ These measures had to be put into effect by EA because abusers made the official Sims 4 boards practically unusable.๐ข No, this isn't an ideal way to run a forum, but unfortunately it had to be done to have it work at all!
I think that if you like other people's comments it also gives you points. So, you can reply to other posts, like their comments, and hopefully have someone like your comments in order to get your points up to be a regular member and be able to post an original post. ๐ If you want to know more you can learn more here:https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/16736479#Comment_16736479
Rosemow usually answers and she is extremely kind and helpful! ๐โค๏ธ
As far as I know these measures haven't been put in place here because we haven't' had those problems (or at least not to that extent!). New people post here at EA Answers HQ all the time! ๐ In fact, the whole reason I'm here all the time at AHQ is that I couldn't ask questions on the official forums at first! I would just ask my questions here and post more conversational replies at the official forums until I was a full member. Over all I prefer this site because it is more geared to helping others. But, if I want to talk to other players about topics like speculations on the next pack (I did this a lot before Seasons came out! ๐ณ ), or which version of The Sims has the best toddlers, etc, I will post over there. ๐
Of course, no matter if you are an actual member or not, it is always a good idea to do a search for you question/problem/topic before starting a new thread anyway! It saves moderators the trouble of having to combine multiple threads that belong together , and makes it easier for others to find all the information on a particular topic in one place! :eahigh_file: ( I have actually seen here 3 threads started within a few spaces of each other that are about the exact same thing! ๐ฎ๐๐ )
Finally, at least you don't have the problem many of us had a few years ago when trying to become a new member โฆ there was something wrong with how your likes, comments, and replies were calculated and it took what amounted to hundreds of points (not just 50 like it stated) in order to become a new member! ๐ ๐ข๐๐ฎ One day the problem was instantly fixed for a great number of people. :eahigh_file: The ironic thing was that I had registered with the official forums when TS3 came out and had posted a ton of posts and had a 7 year anniversary badge but was still considered a "New Member" because the forums were didn't count my TS3 posts and likes, only the TS4 ones! ๐ค๐
So, hang in there! Keep at it on the Official TS4 Forums. In the meantime ask all your questions here at EA AHQ! ๐

Hi
If you have some kind of technical issue or a bug with the game, here is now the place to post it anyways. The officials are more for feedback and discussing your game. It doesn't offer a help section anymore.
Since you said, you can't run your game, creating a thread at the tech forum like you have done is the way to go :D
- 7 years agoHow do you become a full member?
I still dont know how to make my own discussion post - i just made an account yesterday- PugLove8887 years agoHero (Retired)
@Moonlight_Love12, you can't create your own post until you become a full remember, and you can't become a full remember until you get some Experience Points. ๐ To get EXP you need to do one of three things:
1.) Reply to other people's posts
2.) Like other people's posts
3.) Have other people like the replies you made to someone else's posts (although you don't have control over this one!)
Keep doing these things and you will become a full member. ๐ This system had to be put into place because people were abusing the old system with fake accounts, spam, bots, and all sorts of disruptive behavior! ๐
- Anonymous7 years ago
I'm sorry, at what level/points/etc. do you need in order to post a discussion? I had a question about lots with the new terrain features. It says in the help center that you need to have 50 points and 30 posts, but to create a post, how many points do I need? Are posts and discussions the same thing?
Iโve clicked on the link, and followed the instructions on how to use the sims forums, but for some reason the button to start a new discussion is not there. I know it may sound weird but I really donโt know how to post or comment. Iโm a new member, and the requirements for a new member to get promoted to a member includes having a certain number of posts.
