What @Strangelovekraft and a lot of you have said.
I ADORE Sulani, and I love Newcrest for filling it up with my own lots and customizing it, and I love Brindleton Bay as just plain pretty, and I love Windenburg because the rural parts and the city center parts both feel completely right! but...
I went to college in a 60,000 person college town in Texas, and Strangerville is straight-up nostalgia for me. <3
I agree about Strangerville. I love Shady Acres with the stunning canyon views and I've added my most blinged up craftsman houses there. I've got a texan cop in a ranch style house and over the road on the bigger lot, an Asian family in a beautiful jade and gold themed mansion with domed roofing and a tiled pool area with a garden full of topiaries. I think it's the perfect setting to go fabulous.
Down at the plaza I added a kitschy roller rink and a 50s style diner and my wiccan has her gift shop there too. Since Glimmerbrook is a bit too small I think it's a good place to extend the magical part of the game and keep things weird in Strangerville.
