What to safely delete after gameplay

Hi all,

I am still new to Sims 4 and was wondering if anyone can just post what files and folders I can safely delete after each game play. I was also wondering if I can also delete anything in the ProgramData folder - Origin, such as CatalogCache and whatnot. Thanks in advance.

It is not recommended to delete cache unless you have a problem that involves the cache. The cache is there to make it faster to load your game.

There is no reason for you to delete anything unless you have a specific error in which case we will advice on what to delete.

  • @jpkarlsen No, you misunderstood me. What I meant is after each gameplay like cache files or something. You know what I mean? I need to know all the files, folders, etc and where to delete after each gameplay

Why do you want to do this in the first place?

If you delete cached files all what you achieve is that this files will be downloaded again after you start the game.

It simply makes no sense to delete cached files every time you play.

@EuphorialQueen Thank you! This is what I meant! 🙂 So those are the only files one can safely delete, eh? I know I had to do something like his for Sims 3.

@holger1405 I'm doing this so the game can run faster. The link that EuphorialQueen provided explains that.

No, the link explains exactly the opposite.

You asked what files you can "safely delete after each game play".

Crins guide explains that the cached files need to be created if they are not present.
And creating them will take longer than loading them from the cache already existing on your hard drive.

So deleting the cache after each game session will increase your loading times and it will not at all speed up the game, not to mention that you might botcher your installation if you make a mistake.
Plus, it will not make any difference to the amount of space used on your hard drive, because, as said, the files get created again anyway.

It can be helpful to clean the cache after several months of playing, but it makes no sense whatsoever to do it after every game session.
