@Itsmehello I've left them overnight for a while to work on my Sims retail lots before and they were fine. Obviously there are some pets where you can see needs decline, like dogs, cats and horses so I always take them along with me and have made pet friendly vacation lots. Plus the market stalls sell supplies for them too.
But your Cottage Living animals should be okay. I haven't left mine for more than about 36hrs but when I returned they were in the same spot in which I left them.🐣
I run a backup save just incase. So I'd do that and leave it at the point of you setting off, that way it allows for any issues and there's no harm done if you return to a chicken mutiny...plus nobody wants to anger a llama!
The jungle aspiration is done over several trips anyway because the temple is different each time you visit. Plus it's impossible to collect everything in one trip and as your skill increases you find rarer items. So taking a few short trips with the Seldom Sleepy reward trait is how I do it. You may find that you can leave your livestock for a couple of days or more but with a backup it keeps you covered. There is a bug where other Sims see needs decline while another Sim is away, so I don't know if that affects livestock but it's worth bearing in mind.🦙
Good luck in the jungle, it's one of my favourites.

I took three 7-day vacations back-to-back in my game last RL week to complete the aspirations for OR and JA and to collect the feathers in Brindleton Bay (I have a rental vacay home there). On the home lot I have chickens, 2 horses and a rabbit stump. When I left for each vacation, I got a notice that the horses were being sent to a pet sitter. It was sort of generic as it said that my horses, dogs and cats would be looked after. So, I suspect you'll get the same popup for dogs and cats. The chickens and rabbits were not mentioned.
When I got home after each vacation, everything was fine. The only thing with the horses was they aged the 21 days I was gone but neither had aged to Elder. I have aging set to off in Gameplay Options for the chickens, rabbits, etc. so they didn't age.
So, you can go on a vacation and your pets will only age. I have no idea if they will age up or die if they max the Elder life stage while you are gone. My guess is it will be the same as Elder sims in played households. But I'm no longer sure what happens for Elder sims anymore as I haven't had one that I left behind die while I had the rest of the household on vacation. Originally, they would die within a day of you returning which still might be the case but Idk.
Hope this helps.
- @CGrant56 That's really useful to know as I haven't been leaving my horses. I play with all ageing off but it's good to know I can leave them. I've been shoehorning tiny stables onto all my vacation lots. I don't really want to take them into the jungle though...have to keep reminding myself they don't really have feelings lol!
