Why dont the baby hairs in durags match the hair color?

i know they have been out since forever but i dont remember seeing anything about this before. I was playing around with the hats options and i noticed that the baby hairs, or anything that can be seen coming from the durag, does not match the hair colors chosen for the sims. I tested it using the eyebrows as a guide and they are all the same. Was this intended?

The reason the hair color does not change on the durags is because the baby hairs are part of the hat. The hat was made with only black colored hair for all its recolors.  The sim's hair color does not show when wearing it.

    Hope this helps.

  • Wow that's really different in colour. Hair colour can also differ when changing hairstyles. I've noticed for years that when you give a Sim a different style, their hair often changes colour by one or two shades but not as bad as this though on the images there, that's a massive difference there in hair colour. It's completely different and it shouldn't be.

It's annoyed me for a while as I set a different hair style for each outfit and their hair tones and shades change with each style. I notice it more with an updo.

@CGrant56 That's interesting. I wonder why they decided to do that.
It's obviously not linked to my issue in that case. Thanks for the info.

The hat wasn't made by Maxis.  It was a community collaboration with one of the popular CC creators and was CC originally.  I forget who the creator was atm, but they were in one of the livestreams a year or two ago where it debuted.  There are a number of CAS and a few build/buy items that have been brought into the game that way.  Several CC creators have had their creations added to the game for everyone to enjoy over the last few years.  There's a pair of jeans, a robe, the durag, some table and chairs, a side table a few more things over time.  They are marked in CAS with a little green flag though so you can look in your game and find them.  Matter of fact, there are 2 hair styles coming soon (as in this week) that are community member creations.  I think it's great that Maxis is doing this and would like to see more items added this way.

    Hope this helps

@CGrant56 that makes sense. I wish it could be possible for the chosen color to appear but i understand why it doesnt. Thank you for the answer!
