Why is bread lactose?

Why is bread included in the lactose intolerant trait? i know several LI people and they worry more about the gluten than the milk, and ive never used milk to make bread. i just want my sims to enjoy bread products without repercussions.

  • @PrinceStar700 , some types of bread have milk in them. 🙂  I've seen it listed in some commercial breads and I've also have heard of Amish Milk Bread (and I"m sure there are other types). 😉
But If I had that problem I would just eat other types of bread, so it is a bit odd if the game is applying this to all bread. 🙃

  • @PrinceStar700 Perhaps because it is MILK Bread, and therefore an enriched dough especially high in lactose, the sugar particular to milk.

Often when there are Wheat flour in the bread there are also milk or butter in it. If there is only butter there will generally be so little that it wont do much for a lactose intolerant.

@jpkarlsen Yes, I've seen a lot of commercial breads that have wheat and milk.  And I've seen some commercial wheat breads that don't have milk.  The one I grew up eating the most had milk in it. I remember being surprised when I noticed that on the list of ingredients! 😃 I haven't seen as many that have butter, except for some whole wheat breads, most notably a brand that was around when I was growing up that advertised it as "butter-top wheat" .  I assume that bread just had a little butter on the top of the loaf. However, the wheat bread I'm eating currently has neither milk nor butter in it. 😉

I'm sure the milk bread in the game was chosen specifically to give our Sims an opportunity to use milk in another recipe! 😃
