Why is it that all my sims keep going thru doors I've locked against them?

This is seriously frustrating. I have built an apartment building of sorts, and have locked each apartment door for every sim, except the intended sim. Not even 5 minutes later, everyone just goes wherever they please. Help!!! This is making me mad! After going in, then they can't get out!

@oGAMER_BRATo You can't put a stop to roommates inviting others into the home. And if it's a shared room, it's their room also. Unfortunately I've had roommates with girlfriends that may as well live there they're over so much. Plus there are suddenly 'roommate parties' that you have not thrown yourself that involve a bunch of their friends coming over and hanging out all over the home. I found that rather annoying, as I had my roommates in a family home. You have to be willing to 'go with the flow' on some things with a roommate. You can ask the person(s) to leave, though.

If it's a sim in your household so you have control over them, you have more onions.

  • @oGAMER_BRATo Sorry for your frustration. I've had lock issues occasionally, and while they were buggy, and it's no fun. I have had some lock issues in the not too distant past, but they have seemed to be working lately for me, while noting a few things (below).

Please make sure your game has the most recent updates, so lock fixes would have been applied. Please also run a game repair. [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. Make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the base-game first, then run through each of your expansions/packs).

A few things about locked doors that I've found:

    • I've sometimes had issues with locks that I put multiple conditions on.
    • I've had issues with certain Vampires ignoring locks.
    • I have had some friends that once invited in seem to come in more freely than others, even without a high relationship level.
    • Do you have a roommate that invited them in?
    • Did someone else in the family invite them in?
    • If you have Mods or CC we can check on whether these are causing an issue.

I do also find that if a Sim gets into the home with the door locked they cannot leave then until you unlock the door. Because the door's locked. 😖 <sigh>

You may want to unlock all doors then try locking them with only one choice (ie: lock for everyone but "   "), then see if the locks behave themselves. I look forward to hearing your results. 🤞🏻

  • I was not aware they can invite others in. I'll have to check that. If that is in fact what is happening, how do I put a stop to it?
