Why is My Sim Being Abducted by Aliens So Often?

My Sim has been abducted by aliens 3 times in approximately an in-game week. I've never had abductions happen so often. She's not an Alien, Hybrid or Scientist. She doesn't own a Telescope and her Logic Skill is only Lv.2. She's gotten abducted while fishing, while cooking, and while painting, interrupting her activities. It's getting on my nerves. I don't know if the Lot is somehow more prone to abductions, but she lives in the Rio Verde Lot in Skyward Palms, Oasis Springs. The Lot has no Traits or Challenges at the moment, and I have no mods causing increased abductions. Using the same mods I've had for months and abductions have been extremely rare. I can't make sense of this.

  • @iamsweetmystery There's probably a Sim she interacts with frequently who's an alien. I had that happen once, where a Sim kept getting abducted, and I finally realized the random townie jogger she'd befriended at the start of the game was actually an alien!
  • @iamsweetmystery I also have a sim that has been abducted more often than my other sims historically, yet I have been noticing more abductions in this save amongst the household (of his various and extended family) that I've been playing for the past 6-8 months or so. I have had far more times that other sims in these households have been abducted lately than I noticed in the past also. There are factors that I've become aware of myself or others thinking can sometimes raise the abduction rates, so I will share some thoughts below:

    • @PipMenace Oh my goodness, it had never occurred to me that having your sim autonomously associating/befriending an alien in the save could cause some raise in abductions! Thank you for mentioning that! In my current save that factor would be a wild card that is likely to play multiple times since I know one of the ancestors of the young grandkidskids and adult grandkids I'm playing is in the world and full alien...
    • ...And all of these grandkids have the 'secret alien handshake' (intentionally selectively bred into them) as does their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Anyway, having a distant alien relative may or may not be a factor for a sim (none of mine look alien except the ancestor) in the world and you may not see it in them,I don't know. But I have seen an up-tick in abductions of these 'supersims' of mine who possess the secret alien handshake. Plus they can ID a alien or one with the handshake by that showing as a friendly interaction for them with another sim with the secret handshake or an alien. Anyway, for the most part they seem way less affected by abductions. I think all the negative I noticed was a memory of being annoyed about the prodding.
    • I also have a UFO plant on the lot that produces Alien Fruit, and I believe I read someone say it increases the chance of abduction if you ate it or made cooked with it or something along those lines, but I think that plant was from before GTW, so I'm not sure if that is the case. However, I do see a fun comment under the 'curious pizza' that hints that it could attract 'unexpected visitors' . Not sure if that's just a joke/a for fun descriptive:
    • I have a telescope on the lot, and sometimes also have an observatory on a lot there is room on the lot and it fits interests of the sims there.
    • Obviously, I expect it increased by activities like building and using a rocket ship. using the 'Out of this World' computer, being in the science career, or, like my sim that before these 'supersims' was abducted more, being in the Astronaut career (my sim has been played in the pace Ranger career the vast majority of the time I have played him over the years (with aging off). I even had one time that I had two abductions in that overlapped each other in the same night, and I think that this did not include him but included two of this family members, both female and in the same house with him. There was both a telescope and an observatory on that lot.
    • I could speculate about other possible attractors, like high logic and related personality traits, etc. I'm not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me.
    • I read of people saying they were more likely to happen in certain worlds, but I'm not sure about that, and I have personally had them in most if not all of the worlds I've played in at any length with my 'logically high risk of this' sims.

Things that can help reduce the abductions, to the best of my knowledge:

    • You could add a "satellite-dish" (from GTW) to your lot and activate the option on it to stop alien abductions. In the past that seemed to work for me, but maybe it was a coincidence since I have one on my current lot and am not sure it's working as expected (without diverging into details on that). I uploaded one into the gallery in a room called "satellite-dish", user is SheriGR. I believe it can be made in the scientist career? I did find it in my game by activating the 'Hidden Objects' cheat and filtering by the GTW pack. At least it gives you something to experiment with.
    • You can prevent pregnancies from the abductions by keeping a 'full household'.
    • Perhaps experiment with remove items and avoid behaviors/traits like I mentioned above, or google for what others thought triggered it for the. I'm just saying the above off the top of my head, and may add more things that come to mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if other players add more information for you about these things.
