Will an expansion pack bought in another country in EU work with a UK version?

If someone has the default version of the Sims 4 that they bought in the UK, will it be compatible with an expansion pack bought in another country? In this case in Poland. I want to get it for someone as a gift, but my origin account has Poland as its region and theirs UK/England.

@Garfiielld Packs bought in one region are compatible with a base game bought in another region, so in theory this should work fine. In practice however, Origin may block you from gifting to someone in a different region than you are. A physical copy or a code bought from another approved retailer should work though.
