Yeah, the problem with moving all the baked items to the baking skill is that the baking skill is from GTW. People without the pack wouldn't be able to "cook" a birthday cake anymore, for example. The only other option would be to make the baking skill base game, but that's a non-starter (from EA'a perspective) since that would devalue GTW somewhat.
@PandoraTO I’d actually be okay with them making the baking skill base game. All the cool GTW recipes would still be locked behind the pack so if anything it might encourage people to get the pack to expand the baking skill. Plus it would just make so much more sense to “bake” a cake rather than cook it. Some of the gourmet treats that would make sense to be baked could be obtained at very high or max level baking skill.
It’s just really annoying for me to see the bake and cook options not make sense. Plus with stuff like cottage living you could bake your bread if you are simple living so simple living sims would probably need more baking skill then your average sim. It would just add so much more interest and challenge.

See, I actually don't mind the food being split up into different skills. I don't even mind the idea of needing a separate appliance for some of these recipes. And I don't even mind the weird aesthetic of the cupcake machine - it's purely a size thing for me. It's impossible to include it in apartment builds in a way that looks normal even by sims 4 standards. If they could give us a smaller one that maybe looked more universal, I would be happy with that, if they can't let us have the recipes in the oven.
Although, for some things like muffins, it looks even worse now that cupcakes are oven-enabled but muffins somehow aren't.
