Good theory, I have been buying sims since 2000 and the price of 29.99 CND is the price before any sales tax. Sales taxes here are different according to the provinces, lucky me I am in Alberta so only have the federal sales tax of 5% others upto 17%
The price has not fluctuated with the dollar exchange. We buy from Origin in Canadian dollars. EA has Canadian offices. I just checked my receipts and the last gamepack I bought was $25.99 CND. I will be waiting for a deal somewhere.
I know I have been buying expansion packs at local stores because a expansion packs on Origin have been $51.99 and Best Buy $39.99
It’s not theory, it’s math. I posted the screenshot of the current exchange rate as of this morning it takes $24.19 in Canadian dollars to equal $19.99 U.S. dollars. Then with taxes/tariffs that’s why OP is looking at $30.00 Canadian.
Yes exactly... And $25.99 CAD converted is $24.76 USD which is higher than $19.99 USD before tax. Therefore, it costs more before tax. I get that tax is different which is why I'm not including it. If it was based off the exchange rate, $25.99 CAD would be closer to $19.99 USD.
Also, the Canadian dollar is stronger now at 0.83 than it has been in the past.
