To be honest, if they want to update base game items over time, it's better to go by types (so just doors now) - imagine if the 350 swatches were scattered through several categories, it'd be a nightmare to find what's changed. This way, there's some consistency. We see they are up to working on older items. Doors probably needed it the most. We'll see what comes next (and let's hope it's with clearer communication).
