4 Years Later

While TS4 is not the best version of the sims, the Vampire pack is pretty awesome.
They're the best version of vampires the franchise has ever had.

TS5 is something I'm hoping for, but not too soon, because they need to do one thing in particular with it, that they failed to do with TS4, and that is not rush it out before it's ready. The base game needs to run smoothly, and contain the things it should contain, such as at least open neighbourhoods, toddlers, pools with diving boards, shower woohoo, snuggling in and on a bed.

I've been playing since the TS1. I just recently started playing TS4 this year. So, I don't experience the lack of 'expected' contents in the TS4 base games - toddlers, pool, CAW, etc. since the first day it released. So far, it's good, I probably don't own all the packs yet. This franchise could do better knowing that they have a huge fan base, who has been playing this series since TS1 and the new simmers who are starting to play either in PC/Mac or other platforms such as console & mobile (I even play it with my nephews! - so far they like being a vampire, alien, & a cat). They could do better not only to giving the players what they want the most, but to give us the reason why we want to play it first & continue to play.

Four years later. I enjoyed it when I opened the base game and it's even fuller and richer now. Very glad to be assured it has a good run left to go also because that means most if not all I expect in a sims game will have a chance to make it in.

Four years later the game most definitely has improved. It comes with a high price though (which I find unacceptable tbh, a game needing that) and some of the basegame decisions still hinder me in enjoying the game all the way. Enjoy playing it now though, every now and then and combining it with other games, among which its predecessor.

Four years later whilst it has improved in many ways, for every step it takes it takes ten steps backwards. For example: We can have apartments but only in one world, we can have pets that are limited to cats and dogs (unless you pay more for a caged pet that is a re skin) and you cannot view your cats and dogs informtarion nor control them so in short they are avatars.

Four years on the game still feels shallow, sims still all behave the same way and many traits have little to no impact. The traits that do have an impact are extremely limited. An evil sim will laugh maniacally a lot. Big deal. On the other end a sim with a jealous trait will be jealous if their significant other isn’t in the same room as them but they are in the house. That’s just ridiculous.

Four years on we still cannot create our own worlds, we have very limited build options and are limited in building community lots. I.e the game forces you to have certain items for a lot to be functional and other sims to visit it. Four years on our sims still have very limited romance options and sims are attracted to anybody when they are feeling flirty. Four years on this game still suffers from lack of depth and consequence.

I hear a lot of people say “the game has potential” but after four years it hasn’t reached its potential there is something very, very wrong.

While it has improved over the four years, it still does not even remotely compare with its predecessors. Yes, there are some good features and effects, but it is way too shallow, buggy, and boring. When it comes to play time, TS2 has about a 10:1 lead over TS4, and the ratio continues to climb. Not holding my breath on 5, either. Too many hints this is the last of the simhegans.

Yes, Sims 4 has improved over time but it still need way more improvement. Imho, the game will be gimped until the end of production, It still missing features that would increase creativity. It is just okay and nothing more than that.

Four Years later, I went back to TS2 on the third year. The game is o.k. but Origin bugs, reinstalls of Origin, and game bugs after buying and playing this series for eighteen years was enough. It has it's good points, toddlers, DO, and Vampire packs great GPs etc. But the over all design of game with it's limitations to players' creativity (lot sizes, limitations in building, lack of freedom to play our way, the set notions of developers that Sims should be mini avatars, instead of god game designed, lack of freedom in neighborhoods, lack of sandbox in many areas, restrictions of player's choices in gameplay, it's one leg in RPG genre, and one leg in sandbox, and one hand in MMO, and one hand in mobile game genre causes it to be too much of a mixed bag of mixed up ideas and notions and no one true genre as The Sims were in the past. It's all over the place, without vision, purpose, and or theme.
