A MOO issue.

I don't think they are any of your builds so far. I do wonder if the new easier resizing option is adding to this problem though.I think I used some of your pod builds for my startrek "vacation" settled area and those worked and looked great. Actually I'm going to look at more of your stuff. The problem I think I have is I search for words that fit what I want like "pod" instead of by creator. I guess I need to just get a list of creators going that playtest their work. I try to look for builds without MOO but I know that MOO itself if used sparingly or properly shouldn't be an issue.

Oh yes, I know what you mean. I download empty or shell houses for the most part these days, and decorate them myself, partly because I like to decorate and partly because I can mostly avoid MOO that way (I like to build, too, but I'm not always in the mood and complex are beyond me). Public lots are another matter. If I can't adapt/adjust a lot already in game, than I go to the gallery for lots. I rarely download any lot that requires MOO to be on to place, and I first place the lot in a testing save with test sims (used also for things I build). If it passes, I keep it, if not it gets tossed right away. Yesterday morning I was playing in my Townies save and I went back into the Bheeda house to get them ready to move to another, bigger lot (they are having more kids soon). Just after their daughter aged to toddler, I went into their apt. to imp in a small room for her. I had placed a large stuffed animal at the foot of her bed at an angle just inside the door using the alt key. When I went in yesterday I wanted them to move the next sim day, so I had Jesminder read her daughter to sleep. No luck, the action kept dropping with a rout failure animation and thought bubble, so I went into build mode to see what could be causing the issue. Turns out the stuffed animal slot was overlapping the toddler bed by just a little, and that was causing a rout failure. This is why testing is needed. Even when you can place objects using just alt, rout failure can still occur. Same with size objects up and down. I don't hate MOO, I use once in a while, but I always play test when I do and make a note of what I used MOO on and where even with lots build just for me in my library (I'm middle aged, I forget stuff).

I really do wish we could filter at least two hashtags in the gallery, but I don't know how much it would really help. There are those who re-upload a lot with changes they have made to the lot but with no change to the description (I get a lot of those when looking for shells/empty homes).

@Dannydanbo , yep, me too. Or I use the home and decor to illustrate the kind of person/sim I want them to be. There are soo many things those three measly traits fail to show. The same sim placed in different sized and styled homes and wearing different outfits represents something different to each player. A lot of the immersion comes from choices in homes and clothing. Of course, using the gallery to find the right home or sim is a boon. I like to build, but complex things or particular styles are beyond me (I drive my self nuts trying to be perfect) and when I want a particular style the gallery is where I go. Other people have good ideas too.

This is why I mostly build without MOO and/or Alt, and why I always play test my builds. I rarely use the scale cheat on anything other than paintings or rugs. Because I more often than not build to share.

I won't say all of my builds are completely issue free, but they do not require major adjustments to be playable. Mostly it's just activating MOO when placing the lot so the landscaping stays in place, as apparently, F5 can cause items to disappear even if it basically never causes issues with routing or usability.

I'm actually feeling this right now. I downloaded some builds someone did as part of a big set that needs MOO, and one of them includes a townhouse with a cafe on the side. Well, I don't have Get Together so I have no use for the cafe, so I was just going to delete that and center the house in the middle of the lot. Except that when I move the house, not everything is moving with it, and I can't be certain but I think it's because of the cheat :/ I tried looking for other townhouses on the gallery but didn't find any I particularly liked, I might try again later.

I guess it doesn't 100% bother me because I use the shell of the house mostly and just decorate how I like inside, but I agree people should playtest their builds before uploading. Idk what I'm gonna do about this house lol.

You're not alone in your frustration over this issue. I find it just as irksome when I download a house from the Gallery and I can't use it without taking it apart. It would be nice if builders would clarify these things better, but at the same time, I can't blame them, I guess. All though, for a lot of us the real purpose is playability, so I dunno. Not sure what can be done to fix this issue.

I do use moo but the only things I tend to put close together is decor on the corners of desks, end tables etc. Or if I'm doing a 2x2 bathroom. But even then I'll test the small bathroom.

I kinda wish someone would make a post/tutorial/public service announcement in the Lots section about the potential consequences of using things like MOO and etc as well as encouraging creators to explain if/how MOO was used on their creations. Things change after patches and techniques that worked before a patch don't work after and sometimes the news is slow to spread. I learned something new already today about using f5 and I wouldn't have known if @MDianaSanders hadn't posted it here. (and I know I don't know enough to make such a post myself)

I rarely download houses anymore because of this - way over done and unplayable - end up spending so much time trying to make it playable that I just get frustrated and bulldoze it. I am a lousy builder but at least my houses are playable. I barely decorate anymore anyway because then the sims just stare at everything or get different moods every time they go into another room.

I did look through your thread @Chazzy. I think I'd taken some time off playing during that spell or I probably would have been there commenting too.. I did find a few builders to look up through that thread though. I think I will start looking for hashtags of playtested and take it from there otherwise.
I've used a number your builds too @MDianaSanders they work and look great in game also.
I really don't mind some MOO use, but I don't think there's a search for "sparingly" lol.
I know to builders it must sound whiny to complain about this but you guys enjoy building. The people that download your lots usually enjoy playing more or they wouldn't be downloading your lots for the most part.
