That's a really good point, and I pretty much feel the same way about both my Sims dying and the pack. I've been playing with my main household and the founder couple for almost two years at this point and have done everything I could to keep them safe, including making them spellcasters so they can have familiars to protect them. Now, as their kids are almost all grown up and they have welcomed their first grandchild, I think I'll age them up to elders, let them retire and have some well-deserved fun, like a long holiday in Selvadorada so they can explore those ruins. And eventually, I'll let Grim take them, keep them around a little while longer as ghosts until I'm ready to let them leave altogether. I'm not quite there yet, though, but I like this aspect of the pack, and that it lets Sims write up a will and leave instructions for their funerals. I'll still mourn them because I've grown very attached to them after all this time.
