AA - Any ideas to make Park Worker more fun

I'm exploring Adventure Awaits and decided to try out the new career with two sisters. One is aiming to be a Camp Counselor, the other the Park Ranger. They are both level 4 now and this job is SUPER boring. Is there any way to make it more fun?

Maybe my mistake it trying to do both branches in one household because the sisters both go off to the job at the same time and the house is empty. Mostly, though, it's the week between job shifts that seems to be a slog. They're just skill building and it's soooo boring I was starting to wonder if I'm missing something. 😒What is the big draw to playing this career?

Kalyn building up her archery skills before her next shift.

That's true. Working on the quests has been keeping them busy during the week. I was just surprised that the job didn't have much too it since the daily task (which you have 5 days to do) isn't any more difficult than M-F rabbit hole jobs with daily tasks every day.

I do like that you can click on the Sim while they're away at work and sort of control what they're doing (take a break, take a shower, etc.) since as mermaids, they have a tendency to get dry scales a lot while on their weekend away, so they don't come back on Sunday with all their needs in the red. 😄

Exactly. I wish it was a more active career. I'm thinking maybe I could have the sisters host a getaway at their house during the week between shifts, then they can actively be "camp" workers and make money doing it. Their mother is a mermaid on Sulani on a big lot that I was thinking of turning into a spa getaway at some point, so maybe the girls could move there and work as part of a spa/camping experience. 🤔 Then honing their skills during the week won't seem so dull.

  • I did not explore this career ye, but it struck me that just any career - bpth in TS4 and real life - would easily become boring if there was nothin else to enjoy in life. I think sims are more fun if they have a mission in life, socialt they tend to, hobbies etc. I prefer playing households where something "is coming up". I don't think this career was intended to be the total focus of a sim's life :)

  • I started a new game after getting the pack and sent my sim on a get-away to the camp to check it out, they made her a camp counselor. It was fun, she had all the tasks to do to take care of kids, clean up after them, make sure they got food, break up their arguments, teach them to do things, etc. She made friends with & hung out with other counselors at night by the campfire. There were cabins for the counselors to sleep in. It was really cool, it got me excited.

So I had her go into the park worker career thinking it would be somewhat similar since it was a full weekend shift, only to discover the career is a rabbit hole???! I was like, what? Why?

She's a single person household so it kinda sucks for me lol the vacation where she had to pay for a working vacation was more fun than a rabbit hole career. I'm thinking it might be more fun to just to send her to the camp and pretend she's working, IDK. I'd have to have her quit & get a different job or make sellables or cheat finances or something, or I could have her go a couple days per week after her normal park worker career shift is over if I really wanna achieve maxing it out. Might have to add someone to the household though to keep things from getting boring on the weekend.

I just don't understand why if people can go on get-aways and be put to work as a camp counselor, why couldn't it have just been an active career?

Thanks for all the great ideas! Right now I'm working on completing all the quests and collecting the butterflies, so that's keeping the Sims busy. But I like the idea of maybe running a small touristy business during the week.

That's a good idea! A small business could liven things up.

  • You could treat this career as a weekend job instead of their main career. During the week they could maybe run an ice cream shop or archery or kayak lessons  club or something.

  • Yeah, I added this one to letter P of the Alphabet SuperLegacy under protest (I was protesting to myself, but still). I'm pretty sure this is the only career where it's impossible, at any stage, to get more than one promotion a week. The weekends are shot 🏹.

Maybe, you can make things more interesting by having them make friends at the gym, or in some other way build skills in a social context? At least that would bring other characters into the story line. Perhaps, kick it old school with an archery date?
