Set up the satellite dish from the science career on your home lot and contact aliens. This increases abductions, I believe, and may also bring alien visitors to your house. Abductions happen at night, so have sims stay up late in case the weird sparkles appear outside. Have autonomy on so that they can investigate the sparkles and get abducted.
If you want to stop abductions later, the satellite dish has an option to prevent them too.
