About the new content.....

People still wouldve had the same reaction. Wouldnt take a dectective to connect the scarf + the title "modest clothing" to something in the real world. You also cant please everybody.

@StrawberryYogurt , I agree that a change of wordage wouldn't have completely avoided negative discussion and displeasure, but I do think that it would have died down faster and be less nasty.

Who knows, but by naming it by its religious aspect they did label it. That, I agree with the OP, was not necessary at all.

But it doesnt say muslim in game anywhere right? Just in the patch description? Along with muslim-inspired. May not seem necessary but why cover it up?

In the holiday dlc, isnt there a "winter tree" + christmas-inspired items included? Though there are other items which are explicitly named to the real world in that dlc, like the menorah

If Christmas would be purely Christian you’d be right. It isn’t though. I’ve celebrated Christmas all my life with the items in there and I’m not religious. Christmas tree, the snow ‘pal’, the hat of Father Christmas (Coca Cola anyone?), not religious. I see no cross, I see no crib, I see no star of Bethlehem, all the Christmas items connected to Christianity are not there actually, only the ones connected to Yule. Kwanzaa I read on Wikipedia is no religion, it’s a feast based on African culture.

I’m all for the hijab in the game by the way, because I’m convinced many girls who play the game weren’t able to play sims looking (dressing) the way they did. But I don’t understand, like the OP, why they presented it by its religious name when that could have been easily avoided. The way they’ve avoided that all those years. That’s all.

Don’t want to drag this discussion into religion by the way, because it’s against forum rules and topics have been closed already. The reason that’s very hard in this case is on EA though, not on us.

You can personally be nonreligious and participate in religious cermonies/activities. That doesnt stop the activities from being religious. True, Christmas isnt purely Christian, it pulls from other religions and and got mixed together with Christianity later down the line.

A lot of cultural clothing, expressions, buildings, styles etc has a tie to religion irl. Just today in some lands people are more secular, but still observe these festivities without themselves being a practioner of the faith.

EA just gives you the tools and allows you to do whatever you want with them. Discussing religion isnt against forum rules per se, they just want discussions to remain respectful and not deviate too far from the game. There are threads on here that are centered around religion in game but dont get into debates and hurtful speech and they stay open. Most of the time people have trouble doing so, which is why they blanket it and say its against the rules.

But religion and/or religious items/religious-themed has been in many sim games, for ex Sims Medieval

This is so true. I tried making this argument over and over and people were just trying to say it wasn't religious and others tried to say I had a phobia. The point was so clear to me as the wording of the item made it religious. I just don't understand how people could not see that.

Today, STILL they say MUSLIM-Inspired Muslim by definition means a follower of the religion of Islam, it is not a culture. Religion is against the forum rules. I still have issues with the devs being able to introduce religious-inspired garb and we cannot have a conversation about religion without someone closing a thread. Double standards is what I say. Inclusion is not an excuse to break your own forum rule.

This is true. I have another example of a double standard. The Monte Cristo sandwich is in the game no issues, but when I want to upload a restaurant named Bristo Monte Cristo (The restaurant was known for their Monte Cristo sandwiches) I cannot upload it because of the word Cristo which means Christ. Like why? They need to be consistent and fair.
