Actor career objectives not completing?

I've been having this problem for the past few days progressing through the acting career (late to the party on this one) where no matter what I do, some of the objectives won't complete. Anything not involving other sims seems fine i.e. eat food, get into costume, practice acting, but about half the time socialising with sims doesn't trigger completion. I'd at least expect him to have capped acting skill after all this feigned interest.

Anyway, has anyone else had this issue? Ask About Day isn't working, Tell Story is hit or miss and any other "do social with sim" is much the same. I can't achieve gold medals without everything working perfectly in a single gig and it's locking off my aspiration. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Not exactly the same here, but similar. It's been a few weeks since the first and last time I tried the acting career, so I don't remember which of the social interactions weren't working for me, but in my case, the problem was not that the game didn't register me doing them, but that they didn't even appear at all. It said "Talk about X with your co-star", but X wouldn't be listed among the options I had with said co-star, no matter where I looked.

Also, the hair & makeup lady always messes up, and then the task doesn't count as completed. I've tried talking to her first, doing other things first, putting a second makeup chair in that room (because someone on the internet claimed that would work), advancing in the career, etc., but none of it helped. Even the few times everything else worked fine, I have never been able to get a gold performance because of that.

I haven't played the career since because of these bugs.

I had a similar issue to begin with and I had to keep spamming the hair and make up till they eventually got it right. After a fair few promotions, they seem to have stopped getting it wrong for the most part but it still happens on occasion. I figured it was a result of the progression but from the sounds of it I just got lucky?

It's a shame because I'm really have a lot of fun with this career coupled with the fame system. I just wish it wasn't so buggy.

  • I've noticed this. A lot of the time a sim becomes "locked" and I have to reset them before anything will work. Problem is, for some reason, a locked sim will cause others to not work, even if I wasn't interacting with them. So, I'll be trying to talk to a sim, but it'll keep failing because some random sim across the lot is locked.

That particular case doesn't happen often though. Most of the time the locked sim is one of the two attempting to interact.
  • @GrumpyGlowfish I had a hair and makeup person who had that issue to. It happened ALL the time, but as I had run through with another actor who rarely had someone mess up so I wondered if traits had something to do with it.

So I deleted that guy, got a new one appointed, and VOILA. No more failures.
