Add to favorites - Inventory

Some months ago they upgraded the inventory, with sorting and more. I've not used most of the extra features yet, but occasionally I hit "add to favorites" by mistake. Then I undo, and life goes on. I normally try to limit the number of items in my sims' inventory, so there's not much to sort, but a few of my sims are probably loaded.

So, I wonder what I might be missing? When do you use "add to favorites"?

  • I use that to remember the “hobbies” they like to do. I have a list of over 75 activities (pre-Snowy Escape) and a note of what item I can put in their inventory to remember it. Then I favorite the item and try to keep it in the inventory. Here are some examples.

    Acting - skill book
    Beekeeping - honey
    Gourmet Cooking - lemons
    Streaming - drone
    Soccer - soccer ball
Collecting certain collectibles - just one collectible
    You get the gist.

Then I sort the inventory by Favorites and they’re easy to find. I usually like to keep it sorted on Favorites and New.
  • Hey, that sounds pretty smart! I could at least brand items that are not in there totally random, to remember the next time I want to empty the inventory in one go. Guess that would include anything hobby or career related, too. Thanks!
  • @babajayne, that's a really good idea. That could be helpful for rotational play. It would make it easier to keep track of your sims' interests when you return to their household.
  • @SweetieWright_84 That’s why I started doing it. Sometimes I could remember their hobbies based on their skills, but those don’t cover everything. And it’s easy to tell who are my handy sims in the house when they have upgrade parts favorited. My gardeners have growfruit or bonsai bud favorited for fertilizer. I also like seeing them all at a glance in the inventory because they help define the sim I am playing.

(I’m also favoriting the camera now because it’s such a pain to find when I need it)

I usually keep my Sims' inventories fairly clean. I don't have a lot of collectors Sims and when I do, I usually sell everything.
