The OP is black. If she want to use the word "ethnic", you have no place policing her terminology.
Most black folks have type 3 or type 4 hair, ranging between curly to afro-textured. Some black women use chemical relaxers in their hair to make it straight and more manageable as tightly coiled hair can make styling difficult.
