The trash chute is there and functional and of course I can't remove the trash can. My sims keep going out to the lobby to throw stuff away when I have a perfectly fine garbage can THAT THEY PASS BY to go to the lobby to throw stuff away. :neutral:
Try visiting the lost as sim not in that household so they have to wait in the lobby. Then enable the cheat that allows you to edit noneditable lots and locations. And see if build mode comes available then.
