@Sigzy05 I completely agree! This is what I was thinking so many times while endlessly browsing through the friendly interactions to find the right one, why can't all the useless stuff just be lumped together under "friendly chat" or something like that? Maybe it's because the developers thought that being able to talk about their favourite writers would give sims with the Bookworm trait more depth. Well, it doesn't, it just makes everything more annoying.
There are a few friendly interactions that make sense and should be kept separate:
Get to know => Reveals a personality trait of the target sim and adds it to the relationship panel.
Ask about career => Reveals the job of the target sim.
Compliment and brighten day => Builds charisma.
Cheer up / talk about negative emotions => Helps ease the negative emotion of the target sim.
Declare weather preferences => Exactly what it says on the tin, although I have yet to check if it actually makes any difference the next time the sim is surprised by their favourite or least favourite weather.
There's more interactions that can be really helpful, but always disappear in a sea of useless synonyms for a friendly chat. Because of this, I constantly have to pause my game while trying to make two sims have a meaningful conversation.
It would give them more depth if discussing favourite writers with other bookworm sims gave them higher relationship points but it doesn't. And if it made other sims bored because they don't enjoy reading, but it doesn't. They are all just for the flavour of the thing which makes them useless and clutter up the real interactions. :\
