ANOTHER Patch?!!

Yeah, I really think 4 is too much trouble to mod because of the maintenance. I'll never complain about updates unless they break the game itself, but Origin could really could use more user content infrastructure.

Having made about 90% of my mods myself, at least I have a pretty good idea of what breaks them and can compare that to the patch notes. Otherwise, it would be a lot of redownloading and checking websites to find out if other modder's work needs updating.

I'm seriously considering doing this. The patch schedule is a pain in the rear end. Honestly, I just started adding mods again last week and finally got the game set up how I want and when I saw the patch update, I literally considered giving up on playing this game.

Once you get into it and have some idea what you're doing, it's pretty liberating. A sim's behavior is getting on your nerves, something is too expensive for gameplay, you need a blue fridge, just go out and fix it. Trouble is, it gets addictive, too. I'd like to have ONE day where I'm not making new mods to change something. And the more you learn, the more you can change.

I'm working with a vanilla game right now because I'm on a non-gaming laptop until my new video card comes in. I'm starting to think it's going to be a blessing in disguise.

Maybe its my experience with Skyrim, but if you are going to mod a game then stop it updating and only play that version. I am still playing my modded setup from before the Cottage Living expansion. Simply make sure Origin is offline and then play your game in peace.

When you fancy a change, let it all update and stick in some new mods.

Simply giving up playing because a dev is fixing bugs and putting out new content (sometimes free) seems drastic to me.

Drastic to you may be me, after losing my 7 year old save and not being able to recover 7 years worth of families and home/building renovations, losing interest in the game.

Why I always make backups .. learned that the hard way at TS2 when my hood went for corruption. I use save as every now and then, and sometimes save my families in my library and tray files to my external drive.

I do "save as" at least once per Sim day at 2am. I occasionally upload a save to my Google Drive in case my entire computer melts down. I also occasionally transfer some saves to an external hard drive.

I leave Origin offline so I don't get any surprises. Didn't install the Spa Day update either but I guess I'll update now. I have my older games to play so I'm not crazed about updating the mods all at once and just test with a new save.
