Any other long time players just now learning to enjoy Sims 4?

I hear you. I bought 4 a bit after it came out. I was apprehensive due to everything that was going on with the game. Despite that I was a lil eager to see it for myself. I installed it, loaded it, created a sim and when I was taken to the neighborhood view to choose a lot I was so mortified by the map that I quit out. Never tried to play again for some time afterwards. But eventually I gave it another go and tried to be open to it. I’m glad I did.

It is not my favorite iteration, but it has some really amazing features and I do really enjoy it now.

Like you, I've been playing since The Sims. I have been very vocal about what a huge step backwards the Sims 4 has taken. But I also just couldn't give up on it. I love this series. I want to continue to see it flourish and grow. And it's taken a loooong while, with the addition of toddlers, and all the EPs, GPs, and SPs, I'm truly enjoying the game. I have learnt to accept it for what it is. And enjoy the time that I spend in game. And when I miss a more in depth experience, then I can always hope back into Sims 2 and Sims 3.

I still think it has major flaws, but I'm enjoying it much more now then I did at the beginning. Some of the packs have really added a lot to the game (and some have not).

I didn't like sims 4 too when they first released it. I hated it so much and i was sure i would not ever buy that. That was weird since i always bought all pack for every sims game. Always done that.
I watched couple videos of sims 4 like over 2 years after sims 4 release and i decided to give it a try since it did look better than older sims.
I did have first hard time to accept clay hair. Back then it look afful and i would just download alpha hairs and use only them on my sims and all townies.
But i started to really like clay hair ( and it match better whit items and world)
I started to really love sims 4, i mean i'm honesty same/ even more hyped for new stuff for sims 4 than i were just as a little kid. It's kinda weird haha.
CAS is amazing, i love all items , building is so fun , familyplay is detailed and so much interactive items.
And best part is that they are still improving it.
There are also things i don't like but atleast for now i don't mind them.

I'm still into my first year of playing Sims 4 -- I gave it a try during a $10 sale in June 2018, and....well, now I own all the expansion packs, two game packs, and two stuff packs. EA got their money's worth back! I started playing The Sims on release in 2000, switched to TS2 in 2004, and it was my absolute favorite until... June 2018. I tried Sims 3 and liked it well enough (I acquired most of the expansions used over the years), but man...once I started Sims 4 I was hooked. Yes, I miss having the extensive control over the neighborhood in TS1/TS2, but it loads so fast, the sims are interesting, and the camera controls are a godsend.

Same story! I bought the game when it came out and after a week it got boring so I stopped playing. When Get to Work came out I bought that as well and played for a day or two and after that didn't played the game until Spa game pack came out. Ended up uninstalling the game until this week I decided to give it another go with all the content and having a very good time.

Hi, I too am a long time player, as is everyone in this post, lol. I have just started playing 4 on a daily basis the past few weeks. I did buy the base game when it came out, and have kept up all new add-ons, knowing that someday I would like it. I think I've reached that someday with the show biz addition. That has me really interested. I was a huge fan of the original Superstar pack and have been enjoying the new release. Not sure where or what I'll do once my sim reaches level 10 of that career, but maybe they will do something that keeps me playing.

No I don't play, I've tried but it's not the same. I just build to relax.

Sims series get time to get their new personality "shining". I only started liking sims 3 half-way through, same for sims 4.

It definitely isn't. If it wasn't for losing my ability to play Sims 3, I'm not entirely sure I would have decided to give it another try. Building is the one area I'm still really disappointed with. I was a prolific builder in Sims 2&3. My husband teased me that I built in Sims 3 more than I played. But I just can't seem to get into building in Sims 4 (yet anyway). They added a lot of great things that I always wanted, but other stuff I regularly used is gone and the controls will take some getting used to. I'm sure I'll get into it eventually, but for now I just redecorate existing houses.
