I found out, sadly, when my favorite Sim Erik Cantrell and his new wife couldn't return from their exotic honeymoon, the necessity of having mods in my game. Thank you, Twallen, wherever you are! Now, in order to have a singer Sim back in my game. Yes, it is Erik Cantrell, I have to use mods. :)
- I never use mods—there's plenty enough stuff in all the content packs I own to make a varied and interesting world, and I simply don't want to be bothered to try and keep track of mods/CC every time EA puts out a new patch/update.
I do use testing cheats to mitigate bugs—resetsim is a godsend, as is shift-clicking on an object to be able to reset it—and I'll frequently use the set-money cheat to take money away from a new sim to make their earlygame more challenging.
But in Sims games, as in games in general, I tend to play the game the way the dev designed and made it. "Tantalus;c-17779475" wrote:
For me, its essential to play with a big variety of cloth mods. To dress my ladies properly. I did stop playing with male sims time ago due to how awful the male models look. I also used to play with mcc, but since i deactivated autonomy completely (enough is enough) i dont use it anymore.
Most of my sims are females because they tend to look more realistic than the male characters do, in the face. Much of the male characters faces look like they have been cut from a cardboard box in most video games. I'm a male in RL, and I can assure you that my jaw line is not that wide. Now I know that you can adjust that by simply dragging. But the male characters jaw line still look a little to boxy for my taste. Now maybe in the future if they can make a male character's jaw line a little more refined. Then I'll probably start playing more with male characters.- FatTribble235 years agoSeasoned AceNo, I don't enjoy at all playing without mods. That said, I don't go crazy and install 15 gb of mods or anything. My mods folder is current 417mb of carefully curated mods. I admit it requires some upkeep when patches roll out, but the fewer mods you have the less stressful it is. I don't use much CC, only a couple of good pairs of jeans for every life stage since EA apparently can't make a decent pair of jeans to save their lives, and some more modest tops for my simself. What the heck is with all those belly baring tops and microskirts?? I only use maxis-match, check poly counts with S4S to be sure they're with EA ranges, and make sure everything is disabled for random. It doesn't really require that much time, once you get used to it.
@sunman502 A trick I learned a while ago is when I make male sims, I first make an attractive female sim. Then I switch gender to male to see how he looks. It takes a bit of tweaking, but this is the only way I've found to make attractive male sims. - simsimsere5 years agoSeasoned AceI play without CC and mods. I've tried some, but I don't have the patience to be checking for updates. I also like playing the game vanilla, working things out without mods, seeing how the game actually works.
- Mindofy5 years agoSeasoned VeteranMe. I've played vanilla since Sims 1.
- Babykittyjade5 years agoSeasoned AceI've played without cc or mods for years and I loved it.i had no idea what cc was but I started seeing other people with cool stuff that didn't exist and I'm like HOW?!!! So I started researching lol I Think it's perfectly easy to to have fun without it!!
The only reason I can't play without cc now is because it has opened up so much customization and variety the sims could never began to have without cc. Both in terms of sims and lot customization.
Mods I can live without but cc really takes it to the next level. Love the alpha look. - cb2342z5 years agoSeasoned AceI tend to use too many mods with TS4. But honestly, I could do without every single one except MCCC. The good thing about total vanilla is you completely bypass the headache of "OK, what mods broke this time?!!" after every patch.
- JoRN14145 years agoSeasoned AceI do!
- CC and mods always mess up my game so yeah I do. I have expansion packs tho so that helps lol.
