Anyone notice how it's harder to do rags to riches now?

Mostly because of the burnouts happening? This is actually a great thing imo, because it has always been to easy to make money in game. Anyone tried any new challenges lately that now feels extra challenging?

  • Sorry, I don't. I just don't like to not answer when a topic interests me. It's hard to create a post and see just how many reads it gets without any responses.
  • When I did a rags to riches scenario, I got burnout. lol. My Sim was doing nothing but trying to make money and I got bored. I ended up cheating. I've been thinking of doing it again, but making more of an effort to do more varied things. If this is true, it might help. I actually haven't done any of the other scenarios. None of them have appealed to my play style.

The bolded part is exactly me. I tried it a while back and spent so much time trying to make money that it left no room for a story to develop. I love for my sims to struggle but I want them to have a bed, toilet, and at least a fridge.

I am currently playing the no skills, no problem scenario and love it, because it is a challenge and you can still have story. You can start with a starter house with bed, toilet and fridge as stated above because the challenge only zeroes your money once you bought your house and start the gameplay ;) It does not feel rushed, my sim is currently 6 days from aging to an elder and she will deffinetly achieve her 400 000 simoleons goal before then, I guess probably the second day back at work it should be done :)

I've thought about doing that scenario. I did do Stuck in Their Shadow and Alien Stole My Parents. I used Cassandra and Alexander Goth for that one. I failed to make the money before Alex grew up.
  • I think it's still easy to make money, it just depends what you do.

I just had a sim move to an empty lot in Sulani with nothing but a tent and a cooler. Just by collecting shells and fossils in the area, within 3 sim days, she now has a small shack with shower, sink, single bed, side table, lights and an outdoor picnic table/bench. She lives near a public bathroom so uses that for the toilet lol. But I'm sure she'll have her own full house in no time.

I have another sim who is a self-employed painter. Need I say more lol.

Personally I find painting and selling them through Plopsy the best way to make money especially when you purchase the reward traits such as Creative Visionary and Marketable.
  • I am doing a millionaire challenge for my PS4, and just started it for my PC.
The PS4 one is pretty funny so far because my Sim Luna married Clement Frost and had a daughter and son with him, so I am not bored with that one. The challenge is a little less than half way now, but I have things going on to make it more interesting.
For my PC version, I just have the base game, so it isn't as fun, but still not boring yet. When I first played her I got her up to $1,000, and when I played again, got her up to $4,000. I just have her foraging, and going to work. She did fish up a drawing tablet, so I may use that for some money as well.
