Are debug items safe?

Nope, at least not to my knowledge. They are technically in-game items that are used or earned (like when you harvest a plant).

They should be safe, I haven't had any problems using them before.

Most of them are safe. Check in buy mode if you can sell/delete/sledgehammer them before going back to live mode. If you can't delete them, click the undo button until it disappears.
That said, most small items work fine, but if you buy, for example, a debug baby, then you've got a problem.

Something I discovered -- the public restroom buildings from the various packs actually count as the toilet/sink requirements for community lots like parks. If you're remodeling a park or building one, that's good to know. Not sure if toddlers can use them though.

If you have the space on your sims lot, you can use the debug cheat to place a fishing pond, I do this sometimes on the larger lots since it is quite large.

My other fave item from debug is the satellite dish, purely to get the alien channel on the tv. :smiley:

Can someone please remind me of the cheat we need to get to debug items? I'm hoping there are fishing signs available. Newcrest doesn't appear to have any way to fish. I want to amend this situation. Please, and thank you, in advance. I, too, have used debug items in the past and never had any harm befall my Sims or my game.

i use a lot of them in certain households. like one of my alien families has a display case with a probe, the other probe aliens tease sims with as a mischief interaction, a few remotes and some other alien-looking tech. and most of my alien builds have at least one ufo hanging out somewhere, often parked in a basement garage with a faux gate for it to enter/exit through

also, be careful with some of the books. the ones that are placeholders for books sims write are kind of wonky. some won't be able to be shelved, others won't be able to be read. i used to just toss every book out in a library then let the librarian and my neat sim put things away, when they were done, delete the ones they didn't shelve

as for how to find them, the cheat is bb.showhiddenobjects, and even then not everything shows up in it. you'll then want to search for 'debug', which then populates the items listed under debug (most of which are actually just called 'debug'). this will reveal all the collectibles, some random build objects we don't normally see (including a few premade plant combos from jungle adventure, which are nice to use), items used to spawn messes toddlers/children make, food that's in the middle of being cooked and more. including the fishing signs)

there is at least one place to fish in newcrest, btw. the upper left neighborhood has two or three fishing spots in its upper right corner, above the 40x30 lot. grim loves to fish there in my game for some reason

@GalacticGal Oh wow. Newcrest does not have fishing spots? I did not know that.

I used debug items in sims 3. I found debug items to be items which are regular items, but you would have to obtain it through some challenge or career status. I've never had an issue with debug items.
