Depends on the details, I guess. I don't really divorce my sims. I honestly think the last time I did was Sims 2, but I think I have broken up some NPC marriages in 4. Regardless, I don't go out of my way to really keep out of household relationships going so they probably do get neglected.
In real life, my parents' divorce was a super positive thing for the family (no no-fault divorce to be found here) and we started celebrating the divorce date in place of their old anniversary. So I do not really consider divorce a negative thing.
