Are shadows under sims feet new?

Hi, I may just be completely unobservant but today I noticed that my sim has slight black shadows under her feet, even indoors. Is this something new, a glitch or has it been in the game and I just never noticed? Thanks!

    Nah, it’s called Ambient Occlusion and it’s always been in the game. It’s especially noticeable when objects are against another object or just somewhere where there isn’t any light to shine through.
