I'm indifferent, I owned Island Paradise but I hardly got a chance to play in that world without serious lag. And when I did the underwater lots, while pretty were kinda lacking imho.
The Isla Paradiso world needed fixing so all you had to do was download fixed version if you didn't want to fix it yourself. Or download other tropical worlds that also had diving lots.
Scuba diving in TS3 was an active self-employment career and you can sell the fish, shells and bottles in several ways including creating your own active fish market. You can also incorporate it into other careers like the marine biologist career. Scuba dive in the morning and analyze it in the afternoon to draw samples for cloning and other experiments.
Having scuba diving would have been a great active career in TS4 instead of the rabbithole you people constantly and hypocritically complained about in TS3. The only active career you have in TS4 is cleaning up garbage."oh, it's so fun!" :D
Yeah, until I found out about the fixes I had lots of lag in that world, but once I tried a couple of them it fast became one of my favorite worlds in sims 3. I really loved the house boats and the resorts. I loved owning and running a resort. "ClarionOfJoy;c-17138405" wrote:

I wasn't really that much into modding at the time, so I didn't bother to try and fix it. I played on the saves that had not as much lag and what I played I enjoyed, but still found somewhat underwhelming. I'm also aware of all the stuff you could do with the underwater lots and the careers etc. Like I said, I own the pack, just didn't get to play that world as often as I liked because of the lag.
Honestly, I'm glad you were able to get so much out of Island Paradise when it was originally released. But for me, I can only talk about what I experienced and that was a lot of lag, routing issues (had a sim swim Up an island) and empty underwater lots. I did enjoy the houseboats though, even though they were just giant cubes and super slow."Goldmoldar;c-17137906" wrote:

I haven't really seen many people constantly using the diving lot from The Sims 3 fourms. It is a surprise to me that majority of them are disappointed!
Actually because you may not seen many use it do not get it twisted as that was an option and to just wipe out that is disappointing.
Yes it's an option for The Sims 3.
But you can't really be surprised at this point as The Sims 3 doesn't have everything that The Sims 2 had. It is going to be the same for The Sims 4 - it's not going to have everything that The Sims 3 had. But these games do have some new features that the previous game never had!- 100% disappointed. As much as I enjoy aspects of this expansion, the diving is HUGE disappointment. I find the ocean in general to be incredibly lackluster and plain.
- Incredibly...Diving was one of my favourite things to do in the Sims 3 because there was so much to explore and collect, but now it’s literally just...dive and collect mediocre items.

I agree and think this is a wise statement. Is there at all any focus on what Sims 4 does have, that Sims 3 didn't? I wish that Sims 4 could just be received and appreciated as the standalone game that it is. "Nindigo;c-17138765" wrote:

The ‘4’ kind of negates the standalone thing you were talking about.- Yeah I am disappointed. You'd think this far into the game I wouldn't take promotional pics for the "law" for what will be offered in game. But seeing this pic, I really thought we'd have underwater swimming and scuba diving like in Sims 3. As well as active life guard career.

You should never focus on renders, they have been doing that for years even back in The Sims 2 days.
https://www.simsnetwork.com/sites/simsnetwork.com/files/imagecache/l/news/2004/20040624-art5.jpg- It ultimately doesn't bother me because it's not a feature I'd really use unless it was more unique than what Island Paradise gave us.
An entire underwater world with a place Mermaids live, a tonne of sea life to catalogue, dangers from the deep and the ability for Sims to delve deeper with a submarine to find terrifying and unique species? Then of course I'd love it!
But I know that's not the kind of thing we'd get, so I'd prefer a bigger focus on island life than ocean life if it's just going to be diving, underwater photography and treasure hunting.
I do wish they added it anyway though so that those who wanted diving got something at least.
