Are you experiencing more camera stutter as of lately?

The performance of TS4 has been nothing but great, but that was up until recently... I am not sure if it was the recent patch or RoM, but the scary thing is that sometime between the patch and RoM I have been getting this camera stutter. Yes, the same kind but in a lessor form of camera stutter that haunts TS3. I have tried everything from reinstalling, moving the game to an SSD, lowering the graphic settings, removing the folder to the desktop for a fresh start, and all if it. Unfortunately, this camera stutter still occurs. Also, it has nothing to do with the FPS because my FPS is constantly at 60FPS.

My system specs include: GTX 970, i7-6700, 32GB RAM, SSD, Windows 10 64-bit.

This makes me really worried about TS4 and the direction it's going towards. If the developers don't address this, TS4 is going to end up like TS3 at some point in time. They really need to seriously look into this.

To test, just go to the Rattlesnake or the Blue Velvet, wait for a few sims to show up, pan the camera, and then pay close attention.

Are you also getting more camera stutter (when you pan the camera and there is a lag in movement) as of lately? If so, please report it at the link below so that the devs are informed about it.

  • Are you 100% sure your fps is 60 all the time? Are you using the in game fps counter?

I've had this stutter ever since I stopped using laptop mode which was years ago.

Hi DeKay. I used Bandicam's FPS counter during the initial test, but I just tried the in-game FPS and the FPS is still at 60. It dips down to around 50-55 when completely zoomed out. However, the stutter is the same whether I am zoomed in or out. Before the patch or RoM, I never had this. I even tried going in offline mode.

Do you have vsync on in-game? I haven't played the game yet after the patch, but I can check it for you later. Tho, might be a bit hard since I already had stutters but I can see some of your stutters here are a bit different from mine.

Thanks. I tried both enabling and disabling vsync in game. I also tried just going into full screen mode and using Nividia's forced vsync, but the results are all the same. I did notice though that when playing TS4 that my CPU cores are reaching up to 83c (100 is the threshold for my CPU) which seems high. I don't know if it was already like that before the patch or RoM because I never checked. However, I booted a modded Skyrim on max settings, and my CPU only spikes to a max of 50c.
  • I am experiencing the same problem and enabled and disabled vsync. However when I enabled vsync my game was slighty more slow and the stutter was a little bit more worse. But with vsync disabled the loading time was extremely slow, MUCH more laggy, the stuttering affect had increased and overall my game was much more slower than I have ever experienced in my game before. Side note, I did put edge smoothing on on high when i first encountered the problem and it did improve the stutter but it was still there, bugging me -_-

Oh I forgot to mention that my game was a little bit slow when processing actions in the game with the edge smoothing on high :'(
  • I found this a while back and it helped me. I didn't have any stuttering before or after DU.

    tweak-for-stuttering

I have V-sync off and use RivaTuner as FPS limiter.
  • The answer is yes and no actually. Yes I was getting major lag or studder ever since ROM. (I use cc and a few mods which probably makes a difference though) it seemed to be getting worse and I had to play on lower setting graphics. I'm not good with tech specs and what not but I was using
A 10 year old hp gaming desktop. After saving money I brought the msi aegis 3 gaming desktop and monitor like a week ago just to play sims lol

Ever since then I have zero lag even with reshade the hq mod and tons of cc. No loading times. :*
So I'm thinking it's just that the more sims add on packs, the more powerful system it requires.
  • i've had game performance stuttering until i bring up the menu and close it and then the stuttering goes away. the stuttering happens generally and in build mode as well as cas after it starts. there are lots of hours that go pass without issue and then sometimes without warning it just strikes.
