Attend University Part-time?

I am not surprised that Discover University classes are rabbit holes as TS4 closely follows TS2 in some regards. However, I wonder if Sims will be able to attend university part-time and live in their home world not in the University world.

Also, I wonder if the university world will be like the other worlds where you can freely travel between the worlds, or if it will be like TS2 and TS3 university where you are trapped in that world until you finish your semester(s).

    I would love that!
If this pack had been fleshed out more it could have included master's degrees, PhDs and short courses (ie evenings maybe).
That's probably what I would have done.

They do have the skills classes that you take by clicking on the university buildings. I can see using those as night classes or stand-ins for them, but they wouldn't be for degrees as far as I know. This is assuming that 1. they can be taken at night and 2. Sims who are not actually enrolled can take them. I will have to check that out once the EP launches.

@AquaGamer1212 I thought they mentioned there were two dorms, university house on campus and then residential lots in town and that you can change the lot type of each of the buildings.

Hard to tell if there is a different symbol for the houses on campus. But the one house they showed in Foxbury they changed the lot type to residential.

That’s what I’ve been telling people that there isn’t a separate dorm lot type, they’re all just university housing. But the dorms are on shells, but no one believes me lol. I have a map pic with the lot sizes and each university has two shell dorm lots.

    I believe you. :)

@BabySquare I like the idea of PhDs especially for science Sims. There the Renaissance Sim Aspiration. They could've created something similiar for Sims aspiring to have advanced degrees too.
  • I'm just so pleased at the way they've done this pack. I hated S2 university - I didn't even make it through one day. It was really a timed RPG, not a sandbox. With DU, I'll be able to send my parents to class while the kids and teens are in school. Better yet, it'll give my elders something to do. If they never graduate, who cares?

I think someone mentioned that you should take a nighttime part-time job to avoid any conflicts with classes, which implies that there won't be any nighttime classes

Gosh, I really wish this was a thing... It would open the path for some good stories with single moms/dads, or students who work. I had a few night classes when I was in vet school.
