Whenever there has been a baby in a promo render, it has always been that Sims 2 baby. For whatever reason they have never used the actual baby from the game. I don’t think babies are going to get an overhaul anytime soon even though it would be nice to have an in game baby that doesn’t look like a stuffed doll.
Probably because the babies in the game are ugly. Their model is small and they didn't spend a lot of budget in it clearly. In TS2 you could clearly tell that babies had some small number of facial features and you could clearly tell by the skin and eye color who the baby's parents were. TS2 put a lot of detail in the genetics in the BG which added onto the family gameplay.
TS4 sim babies only have 3 skin colors from what I can tell and they all have the same face, black eyes and an ugly romper. - Sigzy_297 years agoLegend

It's maybe the reason why their skins are so glitchy. They are maybe working on them and it causes bugs.
Nope I still remember a time after release where two black parents would get a white baby model and vice versa :D It has always been glitchy and not every of the new skin tones is present (the ones added in patch & the vampire ones)
I think this still happens but not sure. I have never seen a fix for this in the patch notes. - I wish they would bring the Day Care back from Sims 3.

SP budget. - I was in the gallery yesterday downloading families and noticed that babies are in the family pictures now. I don't believe this was ever a thing before? From what I remember, it used to just show a bottle in the corner. Maybe that's a hint, too?

They've always been in family pictures. And when picking families in the world view, their portraits still show up as baby bottles. Same as always. Hopefully it'll change sometime. "icmnfrsh;c-16941266" wrote:

Oh I see. I guess I never noticed before. Too bad we can't see them holding the baby in the world view, too. Thanks for letting me know!"soko37;c-16954645" wrote:

A lot of us want babies untied from the crib, but do you think it will make the baby lifestage much better? I mean, they are still objects in Sims 4. Being able to carry them around the house will not make them that much more entertaining imo.
Now if they decide to;
A ) Free them from the cribs
B ) Make more things for them i.e. changing table, strollers, toys etc.
C ) Maybe different clothes
D ) Being able to bathe them
E ) All in all make them not just objects..
THAT would be a real improvement imo. I think it will be nice to free them from the cribs for a day but it will get the same old again if they don't decide to do a complete overhaul to them, which I think is extremely unlikely to happen sadly :/
And about the baby in the renders; don't get your hopes up too much because of that, because like some people already mentioned; they have been using this baby in renders for a very long time.
I think that's the point most of us are making when we say free the babies. We are expecting to be able to do more than just carry them.
Yeah it would still be nice to not leave my infant at home while I go somewhere, but if they do this it will have to include strollers, hopefully one day car seats, and give them some life stage moodlets like hearing them laugh for the first time, maybe they say their first word, when they first sit up and start crawling. I've actually had a baby so I know that there is a lot that can be done with the infant stage. That's when all the firsts of everything happen people.
Unfortunately, I don't think these things will happen.
Sure, including a changing table, baby bathtub, clothes, etc. would create a nice opportunity to release a STUFF PACK that would actually be well-received by the community. A nice rebound from MFP Stuff, and also a way for them to make some money back on the work-intensive overhaul that needs to be done with babies.
That being said, strollers and car seats are unlikely to happen since we don't have an open world. The only way I can think to implement moodlets for babies would be to make them playable, and... I'm just not sure how that would be done? Even their first laugh, first word, etc. would be difficult without implementing a memory system back into TS4.
I think they'll stay "objects", or rather NPCs, but I do think we'll see some nice items/animations/interactions added that at least make them seem more human.- Loanet6 years agoSeasoned AceIt looks like kids might be amped up again too, if the picture's anything to go by.
I don't need a lot to do with babies but it would be nice for them to do more than lie there crying.
Perhaps it means we'll be able to start at a baby stage?
