Well, what you call sims 2 baby is in regards to the diaper only, right? Because neither one of the babies we've had in sims 4 renders look like sims 2 babies. And if that is what you mean, then getting a new "skin" for the baby in order to make them use diapers only is doable, and has actually been done by modders, so I don't see why they couldn't do the same for renders. It might be that they held up on releasing that "skin" for babies, or just that they use it like that to not have to worry about gender for the babies (green onesie = male, yellow onesie = female)
But the last baby render is different from the others (sims 2 babies included) - My only child in ts4, Cara, was just born today. After moving the parents into a new home, and enjoying a day in sims time of gameplay, I aged her up to a toddler. Babies are so boring and have no excitement to them. If they free the babies, Cara’s getting a sibling.
- The baby in this render looks very different from the current in-game ones, as if it has a new skin. I really hope they update the babies to at least look less ugly.

Yeah I’m referring to it as Sims 2 baby because it’s design matches that game moreso than Sims 4’s, although it’s not just the Sims 2 baby put in a Sims 4 render. There of course could be different skins added for the baby, but I do think they would add more detail to the actual model before adding any skins. The babies they show in the renders have a little more detail than the babies in game (in regards to the 3D model used), as well as a different skin.- 83bienchenSeasoned NoviceIf they free the babies, I hope they will add new skintones for them so that they can inherit on of their parents' skin colour. It would be even greater if they could also inherit eye and hair colour. This was one of the main reasons I felt so attached to my Sims 2 babies. Now you cannot see whether the offspring looks more like their Mum or Dad before they reach the toddler stage. I can understand that some people directly age up their babies.

They should definitely update the baby model!- I really wish that the babies in TS4 were more like the ones in TS2, with the added option of traits + pushchair like in TS3. Being able to interact with the baby, walk around with them, take them out in a stroller, bathe them in a sink etc. would be so amazing to me.
The life stage doesn't have to be long, just like it wasn't very long in TS2, but it has so much potential to be more than what it is. I'd love to see the return of The Bouncinator 3000 and The DangleMaster Deluxe. I also read elsewhere about the option to 'change clothes' with a choice of selected preset clothing and that sounds really great too. It'd also be nice to reintroduce changing tables, have a better selection of bedding etc.
In general I feel that the babies-children life stages are still very underdeveloped and lacking in basic things, like interactions with other sims that are their age or younger/older. Even the teens-adult life stages don't feel incredibly distinguished from one another - perhaps a School and/or University EP will help with the teen or young adult stages.
Either way, the babies deserve better - I hope one day they will be freed, lest they get bedsores. - DomainGoat90New SpectatorA lot of us want babies untied from the crib, but do you think it will make the baby lifestage much better? I mean, they are still objects in Sims 4. Being able to carry them around the house will not make them that much more entertaining imo.
Now if they decide to;
A ) Free them from the cribs
B ) Make more things for them i.e. changing table, strollers, toys etc.
C ) Maybe different clothes
D ) Being able to bathe them
E ) All in all make them not just objects..
THAT would be a real improvement imo. I think it will be nice to free them from the cribs for a day but it will get the same old again if they don't decide to do a complete overhaul to them, which I think is extremely unlikely to happen sadly :/
And about the baby in the renders; don't get your hopes up too much because of that, because like some people already mentioned; they have been using this baby in renders for a very long time. - I would not be surprised if this was a hint. Back when toddlers were not released, as someone mentioned before in this thread, the CEO's family was rendered with a toddler. Same with babies out of the cribs- they have appeared in renders before too. I am sure they have been working on babies, but it just takes time. Not crossing my fingers right now tho. I do hope they are coming- they are like a piece of furniture at the moment.
- jakeNmissimaySeasoned SpectatorI hate the way they are an object hope they change that this year :)
