Bagged Lunch Bug still in game?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what was the point of bagged lunches to begin with when sims always eat at work anyway, whether they have something in their inventory or not? The Sims team is probably thinking the same thing, which is why fixing that is so low on their list of priorities. Not that that excuses giving us more and more broken content for an already broken game, however.
