I can't believe that after so many years baking hasn't been turned into a base game skill. It's ridiculous that wedding cakes from MWS, pies from Cottage living and several desserts from base game are still under the gourmet gooking/home cooking tag. It's messing up the immersion so badly.I mean, tons of other stuff from packs have been turned into BG, I don't think baking skill would harm anyone - quite the opposite! I have GTW and I know I would prefer it... I mean, there's much gameplay left in the game pack to justify making one skill BG, right?I think there should be a whole rehaul already, the recipe system is quite messed up as it is at the moment.

They could leave all the GTW recipes as still exclusive to it in the GTW pack, and add some kind of entrepreneur skill that makes running a business easier as you get skill ranks to keep the number of pack-exclusive skills the same. We should have had some kind of business owner skill in the pack in the first place.

I would be for the change if there is a GTW refresh & the baking skill is replaced with another skill.

I liked the the Srsly Complete Cooking Overhaul mod for this reason, it moves a lot of stuff around, like cakes to the baking menu and make you use the baking skill instead. @Stormkeep Yes I took it out too for the food updates. I noticed it was missing the new carnaval foods. What other cooking/food mods or CC do you have?

Off the top of my head, the only ones I can think of are LittleMsSam's mod for No Auto Grab Food after cooking and Faster Cooking at Restaurants and Ravasheen's mod that lets you make cupcakes in the stove rather than the cupcake machine.
None of those are ones that cause new recipes to fail to show up or need frequent updates.

Cooking is one of my favorite things (both in game and irl), so I'd probably use many more if it wasn't for the problems they cause when the game gets more food items. I learned early on in TS4 that I didn't like not having new foods show up 'right away" so I am skipping all the bigger cooking overhaul mods until the game is not getting updates and packs anymore.

Ravasheen has a mod that allows you to make cupcakes in the oven! That's great! I will definitely check that one out

What it adds is an object you can put out on the counter that looks like a piping bag or sprinkle bag. You click the object to start baking, but then the sims use the actual oven nearby to do the job. It was done like that so there was no need to do overrides on the oven menus which is what causes most cooking mods to "break", or fail to show new recipes, when new foods are added.
