I was playing one of my old saves which had 4 couples in 4 townhouses with a community area in the back full of activities to do. One of the couples were both painters. Every time I set them to paint, they would drop the action almost immediately and run out back to play basketball. Just the painter couple would do that. I've never directed them to play basketball even once. They do not have any traits that would cause them to gravitate to the basketball hoop. I think they had creative and maybe art lover and idk what else but I do know it wasn't an active trait. They might have had a few levels of fitness but still less than 5.
At first I just queued up another painting for them to do so they couldn't queue up the bb, but then I just used mccc to tune it out.
