Nothing's wrong with my gameplay ( for now) but just writing an observation. It really sucks that there can only be one BFF in the game because now that the game allows NPCs to ask my sims if they want to be friends, when i click "No way" ( which is pretty harsh considering they'd have t be Good Friends in order to become BFF's ) they get a negative "rejected" moodlet/Sentiment. But it's not like I dont want to be their BFF, its because the game will literally break off the previous BFF relationship :( . And now I feel horrible for my sim because they were really close but now he's really sad and thinks negatively of her.

That is kind of a downer. I don't know why they alwasy add things to the game that takes things to the extreme. Like they don't know the meaning of a middle ground. MCCC has a setting that allows multiple BFFs. Maybe that could alleviate that issue.

I hate this, one of my Sims was best friends with one of his fathers, but his other father felt left out too, his boyfriend Sidney Price is his best friend now, but it sucks that they patched it should there couldn't be more than one BFF, it needs changed back.

I had this happen with a prom proposal. My sim already had a date and his best friend then asked him and I hate the no option is “No way” why not a a friendly “I already have a date”? His friend got super hurt and I felt awful, I had to cheat to get their friendship back the way it was because he didn’t like anything my sim had to say. Realistic I admit but totally unnecessary when I had no other option.

Yeah, I haven't tried it with the new expansion. I'm still playing offline until they release the bug patch, but Deaderpool keeps it up to date so it should still work.

Is there any simple stand-alone mod that unlocks multiple BFF's (What I would term "close friends")?
"mc tuner" messes up (conflicts with) other small mods I use. Why I don't use it, unfortunately.

I mean in-game you can have technically infinite "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" (vanilla un-modded). There are a few mods that unlock the ability for multiple marriages also. (Polygamy)

But staying on topic. I honestly don't see why there would even be any 'issues' of having the ability for a Sim to have more than one friend (BFF).

I actually want my sims to have a single BFF only. What I don't want is other sims autonomously asking mine to be their BFF. Even worse if that other sim is one I play in rotation, and who should know better than to respect a friend's boundaries. (I haven't updated yet, so I can only assume this is proposed by means of a phone call? Nothing that could get easily banned in McTuner?)
