Big house - how do you play ?

I don't play big houses, but I would start with planning the layout very carefully. It sounds like there must be room for improvement. Or maybe teach them wellness and teleport around :wink:

You can also teleport them with testingcheats on and shift-clicking around. I do it sometimes when my sims are stuck in a last exception state and that gets them out of it. I try to avoid too big houses though, just because I don't like having everyone in separate rooms instead of socializing.

I can imagine playing 2 sims in a large house cuz I can keep close track of them but 6 sims in a large house is ... arg!

There is also a toddler in the family. By the time she walks from her room to kitchen she gains movement level 2 lol

I don't play big houses for exactly the reasons you stated. It takes too long for sims to move from one room to another, especially if you build them like regular houses. You need to add more doors and alternate routes so they can travel easily from one place to another. You can't have just one tiny bathroom in a large house with many sims, you need to add more, so that they are easy to reach, and it's difficult to keep track of sims on different levels and opposite corners of the property.

I downloaded MCCC (if you’re ok with modding your game). In there is a setting that you can tweak and it slows down time. It’s a lifesaver for those celebrity mansions and also if you live in the Foxbury dorms of DU.

I rarely play big houses because of the issues mentioned - takes too long for sims to get somewhere, can't find your sims- especially hard with toddlers - they could starve before getting to the kitchen to get food! I end up using the teleport cheat a lot if I do play a big house!

I play big houses but you need to have the most used items on the first and second floors.

I normally only play in 40x30 houses
and use the bigger lots for fun outings.
I also use mccc mod to slow down the time so I have no issues there. I rarely use second floors in big lots and if i decide to play in a really big lot i have vampires with fast run ability.

Another thing I've done to play in a big lot without having a vampire is make half of it pool and garden. Put all the necessities close by Lol. Love it for my rich celebrities.

I struggle to play in small lots because I like to play with the walls up.

I also take advantage of the lock doors feature to keep up if I have a lot of sims. And I keep the toddler in a playpen made with the colorful fences.
