Aha - my sims spouses always go with them - and me too of course - so maybe that is why my sims babies all have one.
that is correct. if you send them but not go with them they don'tget one if they have a home birth they don't get one

I wonder why it was designed this way. Seems to me you should get one no matter what. But now I know what I need to do.
