Birth Certificates?

I was bored and started looking around in the Lessons menu. I clicked on the pregnancy lesson, and at the end it stated "Your Sim will receive a Birth Certificate that you can place on the wall!"

I did not know this as I have never gotten a Birth Certificate. Are we supposed to? Is it a bug? Is this something that was intended to be in the game but isn't? Has everyone been getting them? What's going on?

  • Ive looked in all the inventories I know of and cant find them for my Sims kids
  • Why is it my sim thinks she can’t put the birth certificate in the world? She has plenty of wall space and nothing blocking her to do it?!

I always hang these in the babyroom and sometimes take them with my sims when they move out. But honestly.. they are so meaningless. There are not related with a specific sim and so random. Its nice little touch, but it could have more meaning.

I discovered yesterday that they are related to a specific Sim. Until the writing Fades that is. But before that if you have a SIM walk up to it and View at you'll get a little pop-up that says whose birth certificate it is and their gender. Like it I'll say something like this is to certify that Jane is a healthy baby girl. You can't see it if you click on it yourself, but your sim can read that if they walk up and view it. Once the writing Fades on it though you can't read that anymore which I wish it didn't fade.
  • Can anyone confirm that the "Get to work" package is required to get birth certificates? I just bought "Parenthood" so I can get the BC and I am still not getting them. I have no option to "join" when I send her to the hospital.
  • I think it goes to your sim's inventory but you can always showhiddenobjects and buy them yourself to make up for any you don't have. I wish having a baby at home still gave one personally... Going to the hospital is a bit buggy at times. My sim stands at the counter for an eternity then is taken back after Im sure the baby is already falling out between her legs. (That's how long it takes)

Mostly I have mine at home so... cheating them in is an option.
  • The hospital comes with Get To Work as it is tied to the doctor career and that is when you are asked to "join" your laboring sim. So, yes, with Get To Work you should be getting birth certificates.
  • Only if you go to the hospital with your Sim, though. I hate the birthing at the hospital animations, so I just do without birth certificates.
