I'm sure there will be no more vacation packs because they announce TS5 in summer and we still need some kind of school/university pack first.
They're won't announce Sims 5 because it will probably not come out this soon. And the release pattern changed.
Announcing TS5 doesn't mean it will come out soon. If I remember correctly, TS4 was announced 13 months (!) in advance and they released a plethora of TS3 packs, worlds and store sets in the meantime. So don't worry that TS4 will end abruptly.
But a videogame is not a digital museum and we must face the fact that after 4 years TS4 is slowly outdated - not only technically (closed worlds), but also esthetically. I'm for example convinced that the Windows-8-ish "flat design" that dominates this game (look at the monochrome green and white surfaces of this forum) is very soon coming to an end and will be perceived as ugly as a 1970s flower wallpaper in brown and orange.
I still highly doubt they will announce TS5 this summer - and especially not at EA Play where EA honestly never really announces anything that big. I also don't think they'll announce it at Gamescom this year, as I feel that's where they'll probably be showing off Seasons (ref. Pets). The truth is, I'm pretty sure there will be a TS5 and I want there to be one, but I just don't see it happening before 2020/2021. They've literally won back large chunks of the community in the last year (with toddlers, and a bunch of excellent GPs focused on supernaturals, family play & vacationing). I don't think EA executives are dumb enough to come back crashing down so soon, and also not to announce Seasons and TS5 at the very same time, because it just doesn't seem like a particularly smart move. Surely, I might be wrong, but I think we'll still see Seasons, University, some more supernaturals (pretty sure we'll get witches/magic, but I also see them bringing back werewolves, since they dropped so many hints for them in the vampire pack), probably another vacation world, and who knows, maybe a first-of-its-kind farming pack coming to TS4. That would fill 2018 & 2019 just fine. However, a 2020 TS5 seems quite possible if they don't stretch the lifespan of this iteration too far. We'll see, but I wouldn't hold my breath for this summer... :) And that doesn't disappoint me either, as I want TS4 to show us its good side just a tat longer than a year and half ;)
