Bowling Alley Barcade

I made a bowling alley barcade with a restaurant in it. But I can't get it to function as anything other than a restaurant. Even with lanes, video games, etc. Is there a way to do that?

  • Sims only go to the restaurant. They don't stop at the bowling alley on the first floor. It's supposed to be a multifunctioning building. If they gave us apartments and mall options, we'd be able to do this more easily. It's under LBonne24
  • That depends on what you set the lot to as: a restaurant, or a bar? If to a restaurant, the bowling lanes and video games will never get used and they will solely focus on going there to eat or drink while waiting for a table. Only your controlled sims will use it when applicable. If set to a bar, then the restaurant functions will never appear because it was not labeled as well, a restaurant, but the lanes will now attract activity instead. I believe video games will also attract some sims at bars too, though I have yet to place a public arcade at the bar to find out.

The solutions here would be to either create a club to use that lot for gaming, bowling, and eating if you have Get Together, or continuously switch out the lot type every time you want to use it for either eating or bowling/gaming/drinking, which is a meticulous and time-wasting process. For your sake, I'll just tell you outright that mixing a restaurant into it won't work. One of many reasons why multipurpose venues need to return...

    bar + arcade = barcade

Seriously. I spent hours building it. I still have rooms to add things to. And then it wouldn't run. We can't have vacation homes either. We can have clubhouses. But ugh everything is so complicated. Why can't I build my own apartment? Why can't a building be multipurpose? What if I own a building and make the bottom a green grocer, and rent an apartment up top? Or own an apartment up top. TS3 let's you own resorts, that don't work super well, for Pete's sake. And I can even have a bowling alley where you can eat?

It's really cool too. There's a dance club, a karaoke bar. Bowling. A fine restaurant. Terraces. An indoor "outdoorsy" playroom for the kids. Virtual gaming rooms. It would've been a goldmine for my sims. :'( Waaaaaahhhhhhhh
  • *can't even have. (when I get emotional or excited while typing, I have a lot of typos.)
  • I have a restaurant/bowling alley, as well as a movie theater/arcade. I just set up a bunch of clubs with my non played sims, and set those venues as their hangouts. It works really well, when I send my Sims there the venues are full of Sims using all the features.
  • I've a similar thing with a place I made called Ladybird Landing, which is flagged restaurant. It's a lively place, but the bar across the hall from the restaurant is basically overflow seating for it, while the workout room and the bedrooms upstairs get used only by my controllable sim. The reading room does get some general use. It's become something of a private club for my controllable sims. Am thinking of doing a TS2 version to see if there is any difference.
  • As I recall, bowling alleys only function on their own on bar or lounge lots. Townies will use them there automatically. Otherwise you'll need to set up GT bowling clubs. Fortunately the bowling pack provides outfits perfect for clubs. I made a bowling alley bar/restaurant that works as either lot type that I switch on the fly depending on what I bring my Sims there for. :)
