Build/buy glitch in plantsim scenario

It's something on my end. My game, my computer, something. I tried daisy hovel with a third different sim and the same result. And on top of the issues I listed above, when this happens the only way out of the game is to hit force quit. When I exit to the desktop the screen goes black and just hangs. If I can't fix it I guess I skip the scenario. Bummer, if I can't fix it.
